Millennium Sunrise Memorial Park Introduction
The Millennium Sunrise Memorial Park is named after January 1, 2000, when the world celebrated the arrival of the 21st century with a millennium concert held on this beach, which was simultaneously broadcasted live with 25 countries, making the waters of Taimali the focal point of attention worldwide. Since then, an annual New Year's Eve music festival has been held here, featuring family interactive experiences, live bands, indigenous musical and dance performances, flag-raising ceremonies, and many other exciting activities. In the Paiwan language of Taimali, the hometown of the rising sun is called "Ja.Bau.Li," which means "the place where the sun rises." Taimali Township is thus known as the hometown of the rising sun. Welcoming the first light of dawn in the hometown of the rising sun has now become one of Taiwan's iconic New Year's Eve events. The park also features the "Sunrise Memorial Wall" and the "Sunrise Monument," so don't miss them! When traveling with family along the Southern Cross-Island Highway, consider stopping by the Millennium Sunrise Memorial Park for a moment to appreciate the beautiful sunset in the evening, enjoy the sea breeze, and perhaps dip your feet in the water to wash away the fatigue of commuting.
