Millennium Sunrise Memorial Park Introduction
The Millennium Sunrise Memorial Park is named after January 1, 2000, when the world celebrated the arrival of the 21st century with a Millennium Sunrise Concert held on this beach, which was connected to broadcasts from 25 countries, making Taimali's coastal area a focal point for the entire world. Each year, a New Year’s music festival is held here, featuring family interactive experiences, live band performances, indigenous music and dance, flag-raising ceremonies, and many other exciting activities. The Paowan language term for Taimali, "Ja.Bau.Li," means "the place where the sun rises," indicating it as the hometown of dawn. Welcoming the first light in the hometown of dawn has now become one of Taiwan's iconic New Year’s events. The park is also home to the "Sunrise Memorial Wall" and the "Sunrise Monument," which should not be missed! If you’re traveling along the Southern Cross-Island Highway with family, be sure to stop by the Millennium Sunrise Memorial Park for a moment, enjoy the beautiful evening glow, feel the sea breeze, and dip your feet in the water to wash away the fatigue of commuting.
