The Water Upward Flow Wonder Introduction
The Upside-Down Water Wonder is located at approximately 148 kilometers on Taiwan Highway 11, originally an irrigation ditch about 1.8 kilometers from Dulan. It gained fame due to the illusion created by slight differences in terrain that makes it appear as though water is flowing upwards. A stone tablet inscribed with "Wonder" has been erected beside the ditch. The phenomenon occurs because the road next to the ditch is sloped downhill, while the ditch itself has a very slight uphill slope. Therefore, when standing at a lower point and looking ahead, it appears as if the water in the ditch is flowing uphill along the descending road, which is truly astonishing. The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration has renovated the surrounding area of the Upside-Down Water Wonder for the convenience of visitors and has also set up public restrooms and local workshops. In addition to viewing the wonder, visitors can take a break at the bar in the workshops, order a drink or fruit, and even purchase souvenirs, making it very convenient.
