Upside Down Water Flow奇觀 Introduction
The Water Flows Upward Wonder is located approximately 148 kilometers along Taiwan Highway 11, originally a farming irrigation ditch, about 1.8 kilometers from Dulan. It gained fame due to the illusion caused by slight differences in the terrain, making it appear as if water is flowing upward. A stone tablet inscribed with "Wonder" has been erected beside the ditch. This phenomenon occurs because the road next to the ditch slopes downward, while the ditch itself is not downhill but rather has a slight incline upward. Therefore, when standing at a lower elevation and looking ahead, it seems as if the water in the ditch is flowing uphill along the downward sloping road, creating a sense of disbelief. The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration has made efforts to facilitate visitor access by renovating the area around the Water Flows Upward Wonder, as well as providing public restrooms and local workshops. In addition to viewing the wonder, visitors can take a break at the local workshop's bar, enjoy a drink or fruit, and even purchase souvenirs, making it very convenient.
