Shanhu Bay Introduction
Suhua Bay is the core area of Dulan, located on Provincial Highway 11 along the coastline, just 12 kilometers from Taitung City center. It takes only about 15 minutes to reach from the city, making transportation very convenient. On the way, you will also pass by Xiao Yeliu, allowing you to enjoy two attractions at once! Suhua Bay features a crescent-shaped bay with a 1.5-kilometer-long beach that has a gentle slope, fine sand, and clear water with no strong currents. It is home to a complete coral reef community, making it ideal for water activities and cooling off. Suhua Bay has started to develop eco-friendly recreational fishing, where you can enjoy the complete experience of getting close to fish and nature. Historical Background: Suhua Bay has significant cultural and historical importance; it is an activity area for three Amis tribes (Jiarulan, Citaolan, and Dulan). The Amis people refer to Suhua Bay as "FUDAFUDAK," meaning "to shine." The indigenous people's daily activities, such as gathering and rituals, are closely related to Suhua Bay. Nearby, you can find the Puyuma cultural site known as the "Fushan Site." If you want to experience the essence of nature and indigenous history, Suhua Bay is your best choice! Precautions: When participating in water recreational activities, please ensure your safety. There are orange buoy warning lines on the surface of Suhua Bay indicating the lifeguard supervision area. During times when no lifeguards are present, please pay attention to your safety. Within the supervision area, the public can engage in beach play and swimming; outside the supervision area is a non-motorized recreational activity zone, marked by white buoys indicating the no-motorized vessel passage. Activities such as kayaking, SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), and small sailboats are allowed here, so everyone is welcome to enjoy water activities safely.
