Shanyuan Bay Introduction
Shanyuan Bay is the core area of Dulan, located along Provincial Highway 11 (the coastal highway), just 12 kilometers from Taitung City center. It takes only about 15 minutes to reach from the city, making transportation very convenient. Along the way, you'll also pass by Xiaoyeliu, allowing you to enjoy two attractions at once! Shanyuan Bay features a crescent-shaped bay with a gently sloping 1.5-kilometer sandy beach. The sand is fine and welcoming, the water is clear and calm, and there is a complete coral reef community, making it ideal for swimming and cooling off. Shanyuan Bay has started to develop ecological leisure fishing, offering a chance to enjoy close interactions with fish and nature. Historical Background: Shanyuan Bay holds significant cultural and historical importance. It serves as the activity area for three Amis tribes (Jialulan, Citalong, and Dulan), and the Amis people refer to Shanyuan Bay as "FUDAFUDAK," which means "sparkling." The indigenous people's daily activities, such as gathering and rituals, are closely related to Shanyuan Bay. Nearby, you can also find the cultural relics of the Puyuma culture at the "Fushan Site." If you want to immerse yourself in nature and the history of the indigenous people, Shanyuan Bay is your best choice! Important Notes: When engaging in water recreational activities, please pay attention to your own safety. Shanyuan Bay has an orange buoy line marking the lifeguard area; activities within the line are supervised by lifeguards. During times when lifeguards are not present, please be extra cautious about your safety. In the supervised area, the public can enjoy beach activities and swimming; outside of this area is designated for non-motorized water recreational activities, marked by a white buoy indicating the entrance corridor for non-motorized vessels. Activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and small non-motorized sailing boats are allowed, so feel free to enjoy the water safely!
