Shan Yuan Bay Introduction
Suhua Bay is the core area of Dulan, located along the coastal highway Taiwan Highway No. 11, just 12 kilometers from Taitung City Center. It takes only about 15 minutes to reach from the city, making transportation very convenient. On the way, you will also pass by Xiaoyeliu, allowing you to satisfy two attractions at once! Suhua Bay features a crescent-shaped bay with a 1.5 km sandy beach that has a gentle slope, fine sand, and crystal-clear water with no strong currents. It also has a complete coral reef community, making it ideal for water activities and cooling off. Suhua Bay has begun to develop eco-recreational fishing, where you can enjoy the complete pleasure of being close to fish and nature. Historical Background: Suhua Bay has significant cultural and historical importance; it is the activity area for three Amis tribes (Jialulan, Cihou, and Dulan). The indigenous people refer to Suhua Bay as "FUDAFUDAK," which means shining and sparkling. The daily activities, such as gathering and rituals of the indigenous people, are closely related to Suhua Bay. Nearby, there are cultural relics of the Peinan culture, such as the "Fushan Ruins." If you wish to experience nature and the history of indigenous peoples, Suhua Bay would be your best choice! Notes: When engaging in water recreation activities, please be sure to pay attention to your own safety. There is an orange buoy line on the surface of the sea at Suhua Bay, marking the area under the supervision of lifeguards. Please be mindful of your safety during periods when there are no lifeguards on duty. People can enjoy beach fun and swimming within the lifeguard area; outside the guarded area is a non-motorized water recreation area, marked by white buoys indicating the entry channel for non-motorized vessels, where activities like kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and small sailboats are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy water activities safely.
