Suanfang Bay Introduction
Suyan Bay is the core area of Dulan, located on the coastal highway of Provincial Highway 11, just 12 kilometers from Taitung City center. It takes only about 15 minutes to reach from the city, making it very convenient for transportation. Along the way, you will pass by Little Yeliu, allowing you to experience two attractions at once! Suyan Bay features a crescent-shaped inlet with a 1.5-kilometer-long gently sloping sandy beach that has fine sand and clear water, making it safe for swimming with no strong currents. It also hosts a complete coral reef community, making it ideal for water activities and cooling off. Suyan Bay has begun developing eco-recreational fishing activities, where you can enjoy a close-up experience with fish and nature. Historical Background: Suyan Bay has significant cultural and historical meaning. It is the activity area for three Ami tribes (Jialulan, Citoro, and Dulan), and the tribe refers to Suyan Bay as "FUDAFUDAK," which means sparkling. The daily gathering and rituals of the indigenous people are closely related to Suyan Bay. Nearby, there is the cultural site of Peinan culture, the "Fushan Site," making Suyan Bay your best choice for experiencing both nature and aboriginal history! Notes: When engaging in water recreational activities, please pay attention to your safety. An orange buoy line establishes a warning zone on the surface of Suyan Bay, and the area inside the line is monitored by lifeguards. During periods without lifeguard supervision, please be mindful of your safety. In the lifeguard area, visitors are allowed to play on the beach and swim; outside the guarded area is a non-motorized water recreation zone, marked by white buoys indicating the non-motorized craft passageway, where activities such as kayaking, SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), and non-motorized small sailing boats are welcome, as long as everyone plays safely in the water.
