Luan Mountain Forest Cultural Museum Introduction
Luan Mountain boasts Taiwan's original forest at mid to low altitudes, which includes thousands of precious native Ficus altissima trees. Being surrounded by them feels like stepping into a dreamlike scene from Avatar. The native banyan trees here are also known as "walking trees" because their aerial roots continuously extend and spread; when the main branches wither, the aerial roots take over, making it seem as if the trees are constantly moving. At the Luan Mountain Forest Museum, visitors can plan their itinerary according to their available time. Here, you can listen to the history of migration narrated by Aliman, a member of the Bunun tribe. Inside the museum, you can learn about the Bunun people's wisdom of the mountains and forests, and try to live in the simplest way, returning to a more basic rhythm of life. If you make a reservation to dine here, you will be able to taste traditional Bunun cuisine, which is not available in urban restaurants.
