Luan Mountain Forest Culture Museum Introduction
At Luan Mountain, there are original forests of low to mid-altitude in Taiwan, which include thousands of precious native banyan trees. Being surrounded by these trees feels like being in a dreamlike scenario from Avatar. The native banyan trees here are also known as "walking trees" because their aerial roots continually expand and spread; when the original branches wither, the aerial roots take their place, making it seem as if the trees are constantly moving. At Luan Mountain Forest Museum, visitors can plan their itinerary according to their available time. Here, you can listen to the history of migration explained by Aliman, a member of the Puyuma tribe. Inside the museum, you can learn about the wisdom of the Puyuma people in forest living and try to return to a more simplistic way of life. If you make a reservation in advance to dine here, you can taste traditional Puyuma cuisine that is not available in urban restaurants.
