Zhongxinggang Station Introduction
Zhongxing Outpost is located in the He Ping Village of Luye Township (locally known as Baralayabay Village), on a high point where the Luye River and the Peinan River converge. It offers an expansive view, allowing distant sight of Dulan Mountain, Baizi South Mountain, and the surrounding environment. During the martial law period, it served as a watch station monitoring the Luye Bridge between the Luye Station and the Shanli Station, maintaining the safety of railway transport. The Zhongxing Station was officially decommissioned in 1982 due to the Taiwan Railways' widening project on the Taitung Line, and the Zhongxing Outpost was also dismantled. Today, it has become a private spot for many railway enthusiasts to photograph trains and a resting place for cyclists traveling on the Luye Cycling Path. The Zhongxing Outpost features three buildings and one guard station. In 2022, the existing buildings were renovated to blend modern space with traditional elements, preserving the original appearance while introducing a new design with framed structures and semi-covered awnings, creating a chic yet modern atmosphere for visitors to escape the sun and relax. The first floor contains a simple café that offers light meals, desserts, and beverages, allowing travelers to slow down and enjoy afternoon tea or a delicious breakfast. Another building serves as a space for displaying and selling handmade crafts from the local tribe, showcasing exquisite crafts made by the villagers from He Ping Village through large floor-to-ceiling windows. Thoughtfully, stickers with the names of the nearby mountain and river landscapes are placed on the glass, helping visitors gain a deeper understanding of the beauty of Taiwan's mountains and rivers while enjoying the view. The second-floor terrace features an accessible walkway, making it easy for travelers of all ages to admire the stunning 360-degree scenery of the surrounding mountains and the confluence of the Luye River and Peinan River, while also enjoying the sight of trains running on the Luye Bridge, indulging in the leisurely and tranquil moments of Luye.
