Chung Hsing Station Introduction
Zhongxing Post is located in the Heping Tribe of Luye Township (locally known as the Balayabai Tribe), atop a high platform where the Luye River and the Beinanshui River converge. The view from this vantage point is expansive, allowing for sightings of surrounding areas such as Dulan Mountain and Baizinan Mountain. During the Martial Law period, it served to monitor the Luye Station to Shanshih Station along the Luye River Bridge, maintaining the safety of rail transportation. In 1982, due to the Taiwan Railways Administration's expansion project on the Taitung Line, Zhongxing Station was officially decommissioned, and the Zhongxing Post was subsequently dismantled. Today, it has become a hidden spot for many railway enthusiasts to take photos of trains, as well as a rest stop for cyclists on the Luye Greenway. Zhongxing Post consists of three barracks and one sentry post. In 2022, the existing buildings were renovated to combine modern space with traditional elements, retaining the original appearance while adding frame-style design and semi-covered rain canopies, creating an atmosphere that blends artistic charm with modern style and providing a space for visitors to escape the sun and rest. Inside on the first floor, there is a simple café that offers light meals, desserts, and beverages, allowing travelers to slow down for an afternoon tea or enjoy a delicious breakfast. Another building serves as a space to exhibit and sell handicrafts from the tribe, showcasing handicrafts made by the people of the Heping Tribe through large floor-to-ceiling windows. Additionally, stickers naming the mountains and rivers visible through the glass have been thoughtfully placed, allowing visitors to not only enjoy the scenery but also learn more about Taiwan's beautiful mountains and rivers. The second-floor terrace area features an accessible walkway, making it easy for travelers of all ages to ascend and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the intertwining beauty of the Luye River and Beinanshui River, as well as to observe the trains running on the Luye Bridge, enjoying the serene and leisurely atmosphere of Luye.
