Green Island Underwater Postbox (Green Island Underwater World) Introduction
On Green Island, suspended above the Pacific Ocean, warm Kuroshio currents and diverse underwater terrain create a world-renowned diving paradise. Don your oxygen tank and take along specially designed postcards as you plunge into the clear blue Pacific, heading towards the charming underwater mailbox. Drop your postcards filled with blessings into the underwater mailbox to deliver them to your heart's desire. The Taitung County Government, in collaboration with Chunghwa Post, has established the world’s deepest underwater mailbox on the sandy bottom, 60 meters offshore and 11 meters underwater, at the Shilang snorkeling area. Shaped like the precious species unique to the Taitung waters, the "Climacoceras brevicorne" seahorse, known as the Green Island marine pixie, this mailbox is beloved by divers worldwide. Nearby, an artificial reef called "Ocean Heart" has been set up, becoming the most popular and unique photo spot on Green Island. The underwater mailbox postcards are a collaborative effort by the teachers and students of Green Island School, showcasing their love and care for the ocean. These unique postcards can be purchased at hotels, guesthouses, and diving centers, but not from the post office! Proceeds from sales will be returned to the school for educational expenses, nurturing students’ competencies while also promoting awareness of marine environmental protection. Green Island boasts numerous famous diving spots, such as Chaikou snorkeling area, Da Bai Sha snorkeling area, Shilang snorkeling area, Blue Hole, and Horseshoe Bridge, where you can dive into the underwater world to appreciate precious soft and hard corals, swimming turtles, sea snakes, and vibrant schools of tropical fish. Purchase the waterproof postcards designed for the underwater mailbox, write about the beauty of Green Island with an oil-based pen, plunge into the sea, and in the company of various marine creatures, share the joy of your travels in a unique way, allowing the world to see the beauty of Green Island.
