Laoxi and Baibao Creek Waterfront Park Introduction
Lao River and Baobao River are both located upstream of Liyu Pond in Shoufeng Township and are important water sources for Liyu Pond. The stream water, which flows down from the Central Mountain Range, is clear all year round and remains unspoiled. During summer, the cool waters attract people, and the sounds of laughter echo in the valley, competing with the summer cicadas, creating a scene reminiscent of a summer natural paradise. This is a hidden gem for locals in Hualien. Strictly speaking, Baobao River is considered to be upstream of Lao River. This area is a source of "Taiwan Jade," with riverbeds rich in stones that shine in green and purple, known as "Feng Tian Jade" and "Serpentinite." Currently, visitors can enjoy playing in the river while also treasure hunting, picking up their favorite stones. The Baobao River bicycle ecological trail stretches 7.3 kilometers and offers beautiful scenery, combining cycling, hiking trails, river tracing, ecology, and cultural leisure activities.
