Laoxi and Baibao River Waterfront Park Introduction
Lao Creek and Baibao Creek are both located upstream of Liyu Lake in Shoufeng Township and are important water sources for Liyu Lake. The streams, flowing down from the Central Mountain Range, are crystal clear year-round and remain pristine. During the summer, the cool waters attract many people for water fun, with laughter echoing through the valleys, harmonizing with the sounds of summer cicadas, creating a scene reminiscent of a natural paradise. This is a hidden gem for the locals in Hualien. Speaking strictly, Baibao Creek is considered the upper reaches of Lao Creek and is a site for the "Taiwan Jade" mining. The riverbed is rich with various stones shimmering in green and purple, known as the famous "Fengtian Jade" and "Serpentine." Visitors here not only enjoy playing in the riverbed but can also treasure hunt for their favorite stones. The Baibao Creek Bicycle Ecology Trail is 7.3 kilometers long and offers beautiful scenery, combining cycling, hiking, river tracing, ecology, and cultural leisure activities. This has become a popular way to enjoy simple living and leisure travel, making it a must-visit for cyclists.
