Laoxi and Baibao Creek Waterside Park Introduction

Laoxi River and Baibao River are both located upstream of Liyutan in Shoufeng Township and are important water sources for the Liyutan Reservoir. The creek water flowing down from the Central Mountain Range is clear year-round and remains untouched. During summer, the cool creek attracts people, with laughter echoing in the valley and competing with the summer cicadas, creating a scene of a summer nature paradise. It is a hidden gem for the locals in Hualien. Strictly speaking, Baibao River is considered the upstream of Laoxi River. This area is the source of "Taiwan jade," with the riverbed rich in various stones shimmering in green and purple, known as the famous "Fengtian jade" and "serpentinite". Currently, visitors here can enjoy splashing in the riverbed while also treasure hunting for their favorite stones. The Baibao River bicycle ecological trail, which is 7.3 kilometers long, offers beautiful scenery and integrates cycling, hiking, river tracing, ecology, and cultural leisure activities. It is a simple and relaxed way of travel, which is a must for biking enthusiasts.
