Laoxi and Bai-Pao River Waterfront Park Introduction
Lao Creek and Baibao Creek are both located upstream of Liyutan in Shoufeng Township, serving as important water sources for Liyutan. The crystal-clear water cascading from the Central Mountain Range remains pristine and uncontaminated year-round. In the summer, the refreshing stream attracts visitors, with joyful splashing and laughter echoing in the valley, competing with the songs of summer cicadas, creating a picturesque natural paradise. This is a hidden gem for the locals in Hualien. Baibao Creek is technically considered the upstream of Lao Creek, and this area is the source of "Taiwan jade." The riverbed is rich in various stones that shimmer in green and purple, including the renowned "Fengtian jade" and "serpentine." Visitors to this site not only enjoy splashing around in the riverbed but also have the opportunity to treasure hunt by collecting their favorite stones. The Baibao Creek Bicycle Eco-Trail stretches for 7.3 kilometers and offers scenic views, combining cycling, hiking, river tracing, ecology, and cultural leisure activities. It's a perfect way to experience a simple lifestyle and is a must-visit for cycling enthusiasts.
