Laoxi and Baibao River Waterfront Park Introduction

Lao River and Bai Pao River are both located upstream of Li-yu Lake in Shoufeng Township and are important water sources for Li-yu Lake. The clear waters that flow down from the Central Mountain Range are pristine and unspoiled, attracting people to play in the cool waters during the summer, with laughter echoing in the valleys as they compete with the summer cicadas. This area is a hidden gem for the locals in Hualien. Bai Pao River is technically considered the upstream of Lao River, and this area is known as a mining site for "Taiwan Jade," where the riverbed is rich in various stones glimmering in green and purple, including the famous "Feng Tian Jade" and "Serpentine." Currently, visitors can enjoy playing in the riverbed while treasure hunting for their favorite stones. The Bai Pao River Bicycle Ecological Trail spans 7.3 kilometers and features beautiful scenery, combining cycling, hiking trails, river tracing, ecology, and cultural recreational activities, making it a simple way to enjoy leisure travel that cyclists should not miss.
