Xibao Elementary School Introduction

Located on the Xibao Terrace, Xibao Elementary School has been recognized as one of the top 100 distinctive elementary schools by Business Weekly. The school has no walls, and the entire Taroko National Park serves as its campus. Open as a forest education experimental school, Xibao Elementary School is nestled within the picturesque landscapes of Taroko National Park. It is not only the only elementary school situated within a national park but also the first forest experimental elementary school within the formal education system. Originally a branch of Fushi Elementary School in Xiulin Township, Xibao has become the only public elementary school in Hualien County to implement a "boarding school system" due to its unique geographical location and diverse cultural background. The school forms a close-knit community where teachers and students live and learn together. The campus design is courtyard-style, and its main building features an unusual hexagonal roof green architecture, which was awarded the Annual Best Building Award by the Architect Magazine. The water channel in front of the school gate separates pedestrians from vehicles, providing students with a safer and more natural learning environment. Standing in the campus, one can fully embrace the phytoncide of Taroko National Park, while the students happily learn in sync with nature.
