Xi Pao Elementary School Introduction
Located on the Xiang Bao Plateau, Xibao Elementary School has been recognized as one of the top 100 unique elementary schools by Business Weekly. Without walls, the entire Taroko Gorge serves as their campus. Open to forest education, Xibao Elementary School is nestled within the picturesque Taroko National Park. It is not only the only elementary school situated within a national park but also the first institutional forest experimental elementary school. Originally a branch of Fushi Elementary School in Xiu Lin Township, Xibao has become Hualien County's only public elementary school implementing the "school residence system" due to its unique geographical location and diverse cultural background. The school forms a large family where teachers and students live and learn together. The campus design adopts a courtyard style, with its main building featuring a distinctive hexagonal roof in green architecture, which was selected as the Annual Best Building by Architect Magazine. The water-friendly ditch at the school gate serves as a boundary between pedestrians and vehicles, providing a safer and more natural protective measure for students in an open learning environment. Standing in the campus allows one to absorb the phytoncides of Taroko National Park, and the students happily learn in sync with nature.
