Zhuilu Old Trail Introduction
Zhuilugu Trail is part of the Hehuan Mountain Crossing Path from the Japanese colonial period. Along the way, there are remnants of tribal sites and monuments, which have significant historical and cultural value, thus designated as a "Historic Preservation Area." In 2008, after maintenance by the Taroko National Park Administration, it reopened to the public. Visitors wishing to explore the trail must apply for entry through the Taroko National Park Administration in advance. Exploring Zhuilugu Trail allows one to experience the rich, pristine natural scenery and encounter rare and valuable native plants. Additionally, views of the Liwu River Gorge from the trail provide a broader perspective, making it feel as though one is walking on clouds. Some sections of the Zhuilugu Trail traverse the Zhuilugu Grand Cliff, where the path is narrow and there is a vertical drop of about 500 meters into the Liwu River Valley, making it a highly challenging trail. Therefore, individuals who are weak, have cardiovascular diseases, fears of heights, pregnant women, and children are not advised to enter. The Taroko National Park Administration has also installed guardrails or chains in the narrow cliff sections to ensure the safety of climbers. Before entering the trail, visitors must adhere to the relevant regulations and safety notices and make every effort to protect the fragile natural environment.
