Zhuilu Old Trail Introduction
Zhuolu Ancient Trail is a part of the Hehuan Mountain Crossing Trail from the Japanese colonial period, featuring tribal ruins, memorials, and other sites of significant historical and cultural value, thus designated as a "Historic Preservation Area." In 2008, after renovations and maintenance by the Taroko National Park Headquarters, it was reopened to the public, and visitors must apply for entry in advance. Exploring the Zhuolu Ancient Trail allows one to experience the rich, pristine natural scenery and learn about rare and precious native plants. The view from the trail overlooks the Liwu River Gorge, providing a broad perspective, and walking along the trail feels like strolling among the clouds. Some segments of the Zhuolu Ancient Trail cross the Zhuolu Great Cliff, where the path is narrow and has a vertical drop of about 500 meters into the Liwu River Valley, making it a challenging trail. Therefore, individuals who are weak, have cardiovascular diseases, acrophobia, pregnant women, and children are not suited for entry. The Taroko National Park Headquarters has also added protective fences or chains in narrow cliff sections to ensure the safety of climbers. Before entering the ancient trail, visitors must comply with the relevant regulations and precautions and make every effort to preserve the fragile natural environment.
