Budalan Scenic Area (Sanzhan) Introduction
Sanwan River is primarily fed by the Nanwan River and flows into the Pacific Ocean after meeting the Bei River near Sanwan Village. It is a popular ecological tourism destination in Hualien County, located within the boundaries of Taroko National Park, and has gained increasing recognition since the establishment of the "Buladan Ecotourism Center." Sanwan River is suitable for eco-tourism and river tracing adventures, featuring deep valleys with clear, emerald waters. The sandy areas along the banks are perfect for water play, and visitors can discover the beloved rose stones favored by the indigenous Tsou people. These stones are characterized by their diverse patterns and colors, considered masterpieces of nature, but due to their similarity in appearance to other stones, they can be difficult to distinguish unless one is an expert. Ascending the river, the scenery is stunning, rivaling that of Taroko Gorge, which has led to it being referred to as "Little Taroko." The famous river tracing hotspot, "Golden Canyon," is located within this valley, making it a popular river tracing route in Hualien. Additionally, Sanwan River is an excellent spot for observing terrain, geology, and plant and animal ecology; one can also sit on the rocks and sketch the landscape, or engage in hiking and photography, all of which reveal different features of Sanwan River.
