Budai Scenic Area (Sanzan) Introduction
The Sanjhan Stream is primarily fed by the Southern Sanjhan Stream, which merges with the Northern Stream near Sanjhan Village before flowing into the Pacific Ocean. It is a popular ecological tourism destination in Hualien County, situated within the boundaries of Taroko National Park. Its fame has gradually increased since the establishment of the "Bulatan Ecotourism Center." The Sanjhan Stream is suitable for eco-tourism and river tracing adventures, featuring deep gorges and clear, emerald waters. The sandy beaches on both sides of the stream are perfect for playing in the water. Here, one can also find rose stones, which are highly favored by the Cangshi family. These stones are known for their intricate textures and varying colors, making them a masterpiece of nature. However, due to their similarity to other stones, distinguishing them can be difficult unless one is an expert. As one traces upstream, the scenery is breathtaking, rivalling that of the Taroko Gorge, earning it the nickname "Little Taroko." The famous river tracing hotspot "Golden Canyon" is located within this stream valley, making it a popular river tracing route in Hualien. Additionally, the Sanjhan Stream is suitable for observing terrain, geology, and plant and animal ecology; one can also pick up a sketchpad and relax on a rock for quick landscape sketches, or engage in hiking and photography to discover the distinct characteristics of the Sanjhan Stream.
