Hsingren Reservoir Introduction
Xingren Village, Magong City, was known as "Shuangtou Gua" during the Ming Dynasty, and it gained the alternate names "Beiao" and "Shuanggangzi" during the Qing Dynasty. It was renamed "Xingren Village" after the retrocession. The name comes from the fact that there are two mountains, Gongbei Mountain and Shishan, "hanging" in the north and south of the village. Back then, "Shuangtou Gua" was a small village located in the low-lying area south of the current Penghu Air Force Radar Station. Since this area was sheltered and had a reliable water source year-round, the villagers engaged in agriculture. The Xingren Reservoir is located next to the Shuanghu Park, at the intersection of Penghu 1 and Penghu 4 Road, and can also be accessed from Penghu 5 Road. This reservoir is an important water storage facility in the Penghu area, mainly supplying water to the Magong area. Surrounding the reservoir, many species are planted, including Casuarina, Araucaria columnaris, Leucaena leucocephala, Terminalia catappa, and Coix lacryma-jobi. At the pavilion on the Shuanghu Park lake or the bird-watching pavilion, there is a less noticeable path at the end on the left side that leads towards the Xingren Reservoir direction, which is the wetland of Xingren Reservoir. A wooden boardwalk has been built along the wetland of Shuanghu Park towards the wetland of Xingren Reservoir, allowing visitors to get close to the source area of the reservoir and enjoy peaceful birdwatching by the lakeside. 【Suggested duration】 2 hours
