Hsingren Reservoir Introduction
Xingrenli, Magong City was known as "Shuangtou Gua" during the Ming dynasty. In the Qing dynasty, it was given the additional names "Beiao" and "Shuanggangzi," and it was only renamed "Xingrenli" after the restoration. The name comes from the fact that there are two mountains, Gongbei Mountain and Shishan, that "hang" over the village from the south and north. At that time, "Shuangtou Gua" was a small village located in a low-lying area south of the current Penghu Air Force Radar Station. This location was sheltered and had a stable water supply year-round, leading the villagers to engage in farming. Xingren Reservoir is located next to the Shuanghu Garden area, at the intersection of Penghu Route 1 and Penghu Route 4, and can also be reached via Penghu Route 5. This reservoir is an important water storage area in Penghu, primarily supplying water to the Magong area. Surrounding the reservoir are many plants, including Casuarina, Podocarpus, Silver Wattle, Coastal Mangrove, and Qiongma. In the Shuanghu Garden, there are pavilions for enjoying the lake and birdwatching. At the end of the left front, there is an inconspicuous path that leads towards Xingren Reservoir, known as the Xingren Reservoir Wetland. Here, a wooden boardwalk has been built along the wetland towards the reservoir, allowing for close proximity to the source area of the reservoir and a quiet setting for birdwatching by the lakeside. [Suggested duration of stay] 2 hours.
