Hsing-Jin Reservoir Introduction
Xingren Village in Magong City was known as "Shuangtougua" during the Ming Dynasty and had two other names, "Beiao" and "Shuanggangzi," during the Qing Dynasty. It was renamed "Xingren Village" after the retrocession. The name originated from the fact that there are two mountains—Gongbei Mountain and Lion Mountain—hanging over the village. "Shuangtougua" was originally a small settlement located in a low-lying area south of the current Penghu Air Force Radar Station, where water sources are abundant throughout the year, leading the villagers to engage in agriculture. Xingren Reservoir is situated next to the Shuanghu Garden Area, at the intersection of Penghu Highway 1 and Highway 4, and can also be accessed via Highway 5. This reservoir is an important water storage facility in Penghu, mainly supplying water to the Magong area. Surrounding the reservoir are many plant species, including Casuarina equisetifolia, Araucaria columnaris, Leucaena leucocephala, and Pongamia pinnata. At the lakeside pavilion in Shuanghu Garden or the bird-watching pavilion, there is an inconspicuous path leading towards Xingren Reservoir. This area, known as the Xingren Reservoir Wetland, features a wooden walkway built along the Shuanghu Garden Wetland towards the Xingren Reservoir Wetland. From here, you can get close to the water source area of the reservoir and enjoy birdwatching in the tranquil lakeside setting. 【Recommended Stay Duration】 2 hours.
