Shuanghu Garden Introduction
Shuanghu Park was built by the military in Penghu. Due to its low-lying wetland with continuous springs, two large pits were transformed into artificial lakes, named Kaiyuan Lake and Xiyuan Lake. A cement walkway surrounds the lakes, along with pavilions and many scenic trees. Covering an area of approximately 4 hectares, it is the first lakeside park constructed by the military and has gradually transformed from a wasteland into a recreational area. The park primarily consists of ponds, plantings, walkways, and resting facilities. It not only provides water storage for the northern region but also serves as a resting and feeding ground for migratory birds. The area, rich in intertidal wetlands, is often where migratory birds stop to rest and feed. Currently, it has become one of the best habitats for winter migratory birds in Penghu. The first county-level Spanish-style urn garden is located to the left of Shuanghu Park, and the downstream estuary leads to the Caige Wetland, facing a bird-watching area that offers a distant view of Fenggui and Wude. The natural ecological environment is quite beautiful, providing a pleasant scenery making it an excellent spot for bird watching. The area is rich in biodiversity, with various bird species residing and foraging, and it is currently listed as an important wetland conservation area. [Suggested duration: 2 hours]
