Suogang Bicycle Rest Station Introduction
The Lock Port Bicycle Rest Station, completed in 2023, is a must-visit photo spot for cyclists. We invited contemporary Taiwanese artist Hung Yi, who used the number "15" to represent the one city and five townships of the Penghu Islands, coupled with vibrant colors to express the diversity of local elements and a rich cultural atmosphere. The streamlined yellow moray eel forms the letter "L", combined with “OVE” created from the wheels containing the characters of "Penghu," as well as the character "湖" which resembles "潮." In addition to the LOVE bike sign, there is also the adorable "Heart Swan," whose long neck forms a heart shape, effectively showcasing the symbolism of the swan. The graphic combinations on the swan incorporate local elements from Penghu and auspicious meanings, making the entire artwork joyous and celebratory. Furthermore, the rest area includes a bicycle repair station, providing cyclists with tools for temporary repairs, ensuring both bikers and their bikes can have a good rest. The Penghu Chrysanthemum Island Line is the only off-shore bike route among 16 diverse bike paths, and the Lock Port Bicycle Rest Station is located in Lock Port Village of Penghu, serving as the first bicycle rest station in the Pengnan area of the Chrysanthemum Island Line. It not only provides a space for cyclists to rest but also integrates bicycle landscape art created by the internationally renowned artist Hung Yi. The pavement is designed with marine life prints by local artists, providing a comfortable resting space for cyclists while attracting tourists to take photos and showcase landscape aesthetics, shaping the uniqueness of the Pengnan scenic area. It tightly combines landscape art with environmental space, allowing travelers to explore well-known sites in Pengnan, such as the Wind Cave Sea Erosion Cave, the Shanshui Beach, and the kayak experience at Jing'an. [Chasing Wind Island,潮遊澎湖] - Riding a bike and feeling the sea breeze, explore the distinctive beauty and deeply experience the charm of touring around Penghu Bay. Taiwanese contemporary artist Hung Yi uses the number "15" to represent the one city and five townships of the Penghu Islands, integrating colorful and lively elements, and depicting the happiness of tourists wearing the "Tianrenju" flower. "Love (L) Chasing Wind" is certainly a very "潮" thing! [Heart Swan] - The swan is regarded as a symbol of loyalty and eternal love. Swans are often used to metaphorically describe steadfast love. They symbolize peace, kindness, loyalty, courage, and high aspirations, often referred to as "angels of beauty and goodness." The adorable Heart Swan's long neck forms a heart shape, effectively conveying the idea behind the swan. The graphic design on its body integrates local elements from Penghu and auspicious meanings, highlighting a joyful and celebratory essence throughout the artwork.
