Suo Gang Bicycle Rest Area Introduction
The Lock Port Bicycle Rest Station, completed in 2023, is a must-visit photo spot for cyclists. We invited contemporary Taiwanese artist Hong Yi to use the number "15" to represent the one city and five townships of Penghu Island, paired with vibrant and lively colors to express diverse local elements and a rich cultural atmosphere. The streamlined golden eel shape forms the letter "L," combined with the inner wheels representing the characters of "Penghu" to create "OVE," and the letter "H" shaped to resemble the word "tide." In addition to the LOVE bicycle sign, there is also a cute "Heart Swan," whose elongated neck forms a heart symbol, embodying the essence of the swan's meaning, while the design incorporates local elements and auspicious connotations, making the entire piece joyful and celebratory. Moreover, there are bicycle repair stations in the rest area, providing temporary maintenance tools for cyclists, allowing both cyclists and their bikes to have ample rest. The Penghu Ju Island Line is the only off-island route among the 16 diverse bicycle routes, and the Lock Port Bicycle Rest Station is located in Lock Port Village, Penghu. It is the first bicycle rest station in the Pengnan region of the Ju Island Line, providing a resting space for cyclists while incorporating landscape art created by the internationally renowned artist Hong Yi. The ground surface features local artists' painted marine life in membrane printing, offering a comfortable space for cyclists and attracting tourists to stop for photos, showcasing landscape aesthetics to shape the identity of the Pengnan scenic area. This creates a close connection between landscape art and environmental space, allowing travelers to explore famous attractions in Pengnan, such as the Wind Cave, mountain and water beaches, and the canoe experience in Jing'an, revealing the beautiful ocean scenery of Penghu's most beautiful bays. Riding a bike against the sea breeze, artist Hong Yi deeply experiences the beauty of the Penghu Bay on his journey. The artist uses the number "15" to represent the one city and five townships of Penghu Island, combining vibrant colors to demonstrate diverse local elements and a rich cultural atmosphere. The streamlined golden eel shape forms the letter "L," while wheels featuring the characters for "Penghu" create "OVE," with the "H" resembling the word "tide." Under the delicate imagination of artist Hong Yi, we see tourists happily wearing crowns of daisies—a symbol of "Love" and the trendy pursuit of the sea breeze! The "Heart Swan," representing loyalty and eternal love, symbolizes steadfast affection with its cute design. The elongated neck forms a heart, accurately reflecting the essence of the swan, while the artwork incorporates local elements and auspicious meanings, making the piece joyful and celebratory.
