Caijian Wetland Introduction
Caiyuan Wetland is located at the bottom of the bay on the northeastern shore of Magong Inner Harbor, bordered to the north by Shuanghu Park and Xingren Reservoir along Highway 205, to the east by Xingren Jinshidi along Highway 201, to the west by Caiyuan Life Memorial Park, and to the south by the intertidal zone of Caiyuan Fish Pond. During the Japanese occupation, fish ponds were already built along the eastern coast of Caiyuan; after 1945, the area of the fish ponds gradually expanded. In 1971, after fish farming ceased, this wetland became the best place for birds to migrate, overwinter, and transit. Nearby, operators by Caiyuan Fishing Harbor can take visitors to observe box-net farming and oysters in the inner sea, as well as fishing for cuttlefish and feeding sea bass. The coast features windbreaks and embankments, with explanatory signs set up, making it a pleasant place for birdwatching and enjoying the sea. The current status of the wetland includes "Xingren Reservoir and Afforestation Area, Shuanghu Park and Mangrove Wetland, Caiyuan Fish Pond Area, and Caiyuan Intertidal Coastal Area." This wetland is the most suitable location for ecological tourism and outdoor education in Magong City. The wetland encompasses a variety of natural wetland types, has vast sea views, covers a large area, and is conveniently located near the center of Magong City, meeting the scale and conditions of national and wetland parks.
