Star of the Chrysanthemum Island (Fisherman's Wharf) Introduction
Fisherman’s Wharf was originally the second fishing port of Magong, which used to be an area for fishing boats and ice factories, filled with oil stains and fishy smells, with fishing gear and ice machines scattered around. Later, under the overall planning and renovation by the county government, it has become a waterfront redevelopment area rich in Penghu's industrial characteristics and great potential. Today, it has become a popular spot for Penghu residents to walk and a must-visit place for travelers to Penghu. The Wharf is generally divided into two sections: one is a shopping area and artist exhibition zone centered around the "Star of Chiji Island," and the other is a leisure area characterized by painted oil barrels. The wharf features wooden walkways and benches for relaxation along the waterfront. The "Star of Chiji Island" is a large cruise ship-like structure made of reinforced concrete, built by the Penghu Fishermen's Association at a cost of 120 million NTD. It is a three-story building with the first floor dedicated to a direct sales center for fishery products, the second floor housing a seafood restaurant, and the third floor offering some ship facilities available for photography and visits. The port area is undergoing a transformation to balance fishing production and tourism, becoming a waterfront redevelopment area where visitors can enjoy casual strolls along the wooden walkways, especially with night lighting design presenting different charms day and night. [Suggested visiting time] 1.5 hours.
