Star of the Chrysanthemum Island (Fisherman's Wharf) Introduction
Fisherman's Wharf was formerly the second fishing port of Magong, and it used to be an area for fishing boats and ice factories, filled with oil stains and the smell of fish, with fishing gear and ice-making machines scattered everywhere. Later, under the overall planning and rectification by the county government, it became a waterfront redevelopment area rich in Penghu's industrial characteristics and the most promising one. Today, it has become a place for Penghu residents to take walks and a must-visit spot for tourists coming to Penghu. Fisherman's Wharf is roughly divided into two sections: one is a shopping area and artist exhibition area dominated by "Star of Jiudong," and the other is a leisure area featuring painted oil barrels. The wharf is equipped with wooden walkways and wooden tables and chairs for seaside relaxation. The "Star of Jiudong" is a large cruise ship built of reinforced concrete, constructed by the Penghu Fishermen's Association at a cost of 120 million TWD. It is a three-story building designed to resemble a cruise liner, with an internal direct sales center for fishery products. The first floor features seafood, dried goods, souvenirs, and handmade crafts, the second floor houses a seafood restaurant, and the third floor has some ship facilities for photos and visits. The harbor area has undergone redevelopment and transformation, balancing fisheries production with tourism and recreation, thus becoming a waterfront redevelopment area. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the wooden paths by the waterside, complemented by night lighting design, showcasing different appearances day and night. [Recommended stay duration] 1.5 hours.
