The Star of Chih-dao (Fisherman's Wharf) Introduction
Fisherman’s Wharf originated from Magong's Second Fishing Harbor, which was once an area used by fishing boats and ice factories, characterized by oil pollution and the smell of fish, with fishing gear and ice-making machines strewn about. Later, under the overall planning and renovation by the county government, it has become a waterfront redevelopment area rich in Penghu's industrial characteristics and with great potential. Today, it is a popular place for Penghu residents to stroll and a must-visit spot for tourists. The wharf is roughly divided into two sections: one is a shopping area and artist performance area centered around the "Star of Qiu Island," and the other is a recreational area featuring painted oil barrels. The wharf includes wooden walkways and resting tables and chairs by the harbor. The "Star of Qiu Island" is a large cruise ship built with reinforced concrete, constructed at a cost of 120 million TWD by the Penghu Fishermen's Association; it is a three-story structure resembling a cruise ship, with the interior serving as a direct sales center for fish products from the association. The first floor offers fish products, dried goods, souvenirs, and handmade crafts, the second floor houses a seafood restaurant, and the third floor has some ship-like facilities for photo opportunities and visits. The port area is evolving and transforming, balancing fishery production with tourism and leisure, becoming a waterfront redevelopment zone. Visitors can leisurely stroll along the wooden pathways by the water while enjoying the night lighting design, showcasing different charms day and night. [Recommended stay time] 1.5 hours.
