Zhongzheng Hall Sunrise Viewing Platform Introduction
Located in the Magong City’s Xinfuli, the Penghu Defense Command Center's Chiang Kai-shek Hall was constructed in 1967. Initially, it served as a large conference room for the military, and later it introduced second-run movies, allowing both military personnel and civilians to enjoy films at low prices. From the early 1960s to the end of the 1980s, the adjacent Chiang Kai-shek Hall was a prime leisure spot for residents; young people would go there to date and watch movies, while older adults regarded it as a great place for gatherings and conversations. The welfare station within the hall and the vendors selling snacks before and after screenings were a paradise for local children. Behind the Chiang Kai-shek Hall, a sun-viewing platform has been established in recent years, offering tranquility and a vast perspective of the coastline and tidal zones. Here, visitors can enjoy the sea and sunset while appreciating the West Yiyang Rainbow Bridge from different angles, avoiding the crowds at Guanyin Pavilion during sunset. The Chiang Kai-shek Hall's sun-viewing platform provides closer proximity to the sea and sunset. There are also bronze statues of young Pan Anbang and his grandmother on the grass beside the platform. Under the development of Magong Cultural City, the adjacent Chiang Kai-shek Hall is designated as an arts and cultural performance area, with plans to host performances and artistic events, making it a recreational and consumption spot for both tourists and residents. [Suggested visit time] 1 hour.
