Fenggui Cave Introduction
Located at the southern tip of the Penghu Fenggui Peninsula, formerly known as "Fengguiwei," this area is famous for its unique columnar basalt formations, which have been significantly shaped by years of erosion from the waves, forming a narrow sea erosion gully. The bottom of the gully has been carved into sea caves, with small openings at the top that connect to the interior of the caves through the joints in the basalt. Each week, during high tide, the waves rush into the sea caves through the gully, forcing the air inside them to compress, often producing a sound described as "whoosh... whoosh..." This sound resembles that of a bellows used in traditional fire-making, hence the most famous name for Fenggui Cave is "Fenggui Listening to the Waves," which is the best spot in Penghu County to hear the sound of the sea. Paired with the unique basalt landscape, the view at dawn or sunset is quite magnificent, exuding a poetic beauty. Next to Fenggui Cave, there is a charming two-story pavilion shaped like a seashell, where visitors can ascend to enjoy the panoramic view of the sea and observe the spectacular basalt erosion formations on the ground. 【Suggested Stay Duration】 0.5 hours
