Fenggui Cave Introduction
Located at the southern end of the Penghu Fenggui Peninsula, it was formerly known as "Fengguiwei." This area is characterized by the unique basalt columnar jointing of Penghu, which has developed significantly over time due to erosion from the sea, forming a narrow coastal erosion groove. The bottom of the groove has been further eroded into sea caves, with small holes on top that connect to the interiors of these caves through the joint gaps. During high tide each week, waves rush into the sea caves through the groove, compressing the air inside and often producing a "whoosh" sound, reminiscent of the noise from bellows used to tend a fire in the past. This is why Fenggui Cave is famously referred to as "Fenggui Listening to the Waves," making it the best spot in Penghu County to hear the sound of the sea! With the unique basalt landscape, the sight is incredibly magnificent, especially at dawn or during sunset, exuding a poetic beauty. Next to Fenggui Cave, there is a lovely two-story pavilion shaped like a seashell, which visitors can climb to enjoy the panoramic view of the sea and observe the spectacular basalt erosion landscape below. 【Recommended stay time】 0.5 hours.
