Fenggui Cave Introduction
Situated at the southern end of the Penghu Fenggui Peninsula, it was formerly known as "Fengguiwei." This area is characterized by the unique columnar jointing of basalt found in Penghu, which has been extensively developed and shaped into a narrow sea erosion trench due to years of ocean wave erosion. At the bottom of the sea erosion trench, sea erosion caves have been formed, with a small hole at the top that connects to the cave through the joint fissures. Every week during high tide, seawater rushes into the sea erosion cave along the trench, compressing the air inside and often producing a "whoosh... whoosh..." sound. This sound resembles the noise of a bellows once used for fire, which is why the Fenggui Cave is famously known as "Fenggui Listening to the Waves," making it the best spot in Penghu County to hear the sound of the sea! When viewed in the early morning or at sunset, the unique basalt landscape is magnificent and possesses a poetic beauty. Next to Fenggui Cave, there is a cute two-story pavilion shaped like a seashell, where visitors can climb up to enjoy the panoramic views of the sea and observe the spectacular basalt erosion landforms on the ground. 【Recommended stay time】 0.5 hours
