Fenggui Cave Introduction
Located at the southern tip of Penghu's Fenggui Peninsula, this area was formerly known as "Fenggui Wei." It is characterized by the unique basalt columnar joints that are well-developed in Penghu, and over the years, it has been eroded by ocean waves, forming a narrow coastal erosion groove. The bottom of the groove has also been eroded into a sea cave, which features a small opening at the top that leads into the cave through a fracture in the joints. Each week, during high tide, the waves rush into the sea cave through the groove. The air inside the cave gets compressed forcefully, often producing a "whoosh... whoosh..." sound, akin to the sound made by a bellows used for starting a fire in the past. Therefore, Fenggui Cave is famously known as "Fenggui Listening to the Waves," which is the best spot in Penghu County to listen to the sound of the sea! Accompanied by the unique topography of the basalt, the view from afar during early morning or at sunset is quite magnificent and holds a poetic beauty. Next to Fenggui Cave, there is a charming two-story pavilion shaped like a shell, allowing visitors to enjoy the panoramic view of the sea and observe the spectacular basalt erosion landscape on the ground. 【Recommended duration of stay】 0.5 hours
