Fenggui Cave Introduction
Located at the southern end of the Penghu Fenggui Peninsula, this place was previously known as "Fengguiwei." It is renowned for its unique basalt columnar joints, which are highly developed, and over the years have been eroded by ocean waves, forming a narrow sea-eroded gully. The bottom of the gully has been worn away into a sea cave, with a small hole at the top that leads through a fissure in the joints into the cave. During high tide each week, ocean waves rush into the cave through the gully, compressing the air inside and often producing a sound resembling "huh... huh..." This sound is similar to that of a bellows used for stoking fires in the past, hence the cave is famously referred to as "Fenggui Listening to the Waves," known as the best spot in Penghu County to hear the sound of the sea. Against the backdrop of the unique basalt topography, it is quite magnificent to view at sunrise or sunset, also embodying a poetic beauty. Next to Fenggui Cave is a lovely two-story pavilion shaped like a shell, where you can ascend to admire the panoramic view of the sea and observe the spectacular basalt erosion landscape on the ground. 【Recommended stay time】 0.5 hours.
