Penghu County Aquaculture Seed Breeding Farm Introduction
The establishment originated as the "Penghu County Algae Seedling Cultivation Center" established in 1969, aimed at promoting the cultivation of laver in Penghu County. In 1988, it officially became the "Penghu County Aquatic Seedling Breeding Farm" and underwent renovation in 2011, which included the construction of the "Seedling Production and Marine Ecology Education Building" and related facilities. The first floor of the building is dedicated to the seedling production area, the second floor serves as the exhibition area, and the third floor houses offices and a scenic viewing platform. The center is engaged in the breeding and release of various marine fish, shrimp, crabs, laver, and other shellfish, aiming to enhance the county's aquatic resources and promote the development of aquaculture in Penghu County. The second floor features a 108-meter-long visitor walkway that includes coral planting and aquarium display areas, allowing the general public and students to visit and learn about seedling cultivation and marine ecology conservation through guided tours that provide explanations alongside the informative walkway. Due to its proximity to the bay of the Nangan community on the west, there is a viewing platform outside the third-floor office area, which serves as a resting and observation spot for visiting tourists. The Penghu County Aquatic Seedling Breeding Farm manages various aspects of aquatic seedling incubation, cultivation, and release, currently cultivating the following seedlings: 1. Fish seedlings: yellowfin seabream, grouper, black seabream, stone perch, blue-striped perch, and sea bass. 2. Shellfish cultivation: top shell, silver-tipped conch, and conch. 3. Shrimp cultivation: banana shrimp. 4. Crab seedlings: offshore swimming crab. 5. Large economic algae: laver, viscose algae, and serrated seaweed. 6. Others: bellflower shell and coral. [Recommended stay time] 2 hours.
