Penghu County Aquaculture Seedling Breeding Farm Introduction
The establishment of the Penghu County Aquaculture Seedling Breeding Farm has its origins in the "Penghu County Algae Seedling Cultivation Center" founded in 1969, aimed at promoting the cultivation of nori in Penghu County. In 1988, it was officially established as the "Penghu County Aquaculture Seedling Breeding Farm," and in 2011, the site underwent reconstruction to build the "Seedling Production and Marine Ecology Education Building" along with surrounding facilities. The first floor of the building is dedicated to seedling production, the second floor serves as an exhibition area, and the third floor houses offices and a scenic platform. Various marine fish, shrimp, crabs, nori, and other shellfish are cultivated and released in an effort to enhance the county's aquatic resources and promote the development of Penghu County's aquaculture industry. The second floor of the Penghu County Aquaculture Seedling Breeding Farm features a 108-meter-long observation walkway that includes coral planting areas and aquarium display zones for the general public and students to visit. Guided tours are provided along with explanations to help visitors understand the conditions of seedling cultivation and marine ecological conservation concepts. Due to the farm's proximity to the bay of the South Magong Community to the west, an observation platform is also set up outside the administrative area on the third floor for visitors to rest and enjoy the view. The Penghu County Aquaculture Seedling Breeding Farm is responsible for the various tasks related to aquatic seedling incubation, cultivation, and release. The current seedling cultivation activities are as follows: 1. Fish seedling cultivation: Yellowfin grouper, black sea bream, grouper, and various other species. 2. Shellfish cultivation: D-Ender, silver bell clam, and others. 3. Shrimp cultivation: Penaeus monodon. 4. Crab seedling cultivation: Portunus pelagicus. 5. Large economic algae: Nori, Spirulina, and other species. 6. Others: Conch and coral. [Recommended visit duration] 2 hours
