The ancestors originally brought incense from their hometown to worship here. Due to limited resources, a thatched hut was built as a place for villagers to pay their respects. Later, a temple was constructed at the foothill of North Qixia Mountain in this district. During the Qing Dynasty, in the Yongzheng period, the temple site was relocated to the south of the town and a new temple, known as the Water Flowing and Prosperous Wenchang Temple, was built.
