Qingwan Cactus Park (temporarily closed) Introduction
Qingwan Cactus Park was originally a military camp during the Japanese occupation, covering an area of 18 hectares, with the highest point at an elevation of 37.1 meters. The camp is filled with cacti, fortifications made of basalt from the Japanese era, and unique columnar basalt formations. From the highest point, visitors can enjoy a view of the sea, and on good weather days, islands such as Tiger Well Islet and Tongpan Islet can be seen, offering beautiful scenery. The park, developed from the abandoned military camp, allows for easy walking along its paths, with magnificent basalt landscapes and various species of cacti visible everywhere. Here you will find many local characteristic plants like cacti, jute, and cosmos, along with the basalt fortifications left from the Japanese occupation. The park features military relics such as the Dashan Battery, an ostrich area, a cute animals area, a carousel, and includes three flower shops—Dashan, Rock Body, and Golden Cactus—as well as a vision hall, sunset trail, shelter bunkers, lookout towers, and a sea-view platform. Qingwan Cactus Park is home to a variety of unique plants and has preserved the military barracks, observation posts, battery bunkers, ammunition depots, and drainage ditches from the Japanese era. Visitors can appreciate not only the rich natural ecology but also historical relics. The park is covered with the local specialty plant "cactus," which remains lush despite exposure to sea winds and harsh sunlight. The intertwining cacti corners and impressive views of basalt fortifications from the Japanese era create a charming landscape. Along the way, cute cosmos flowers add embellishment, and upon reaching the high point, one is greeted with an endless sea view. As the sun sets, the sea surface sparkles with golden highlights, while the afterglow tints the clouds in the sky, and the sea reflects the colorful sunset, captivating everyone. 【Suggested duration】 3 hours
