Qingwan Cactus Park (Temporarily Closed) Introduction
Qingwan Cactus Park was originally a military camp during the Japanese occupation, covering an area of 18 hectares. The highest point reaches an elevation of 37.1 meters. Within the camp, you can find a variety of cacti, bunkers made of basalt from the Japanese era, and unique columnar basalt formations. From the highest point, visitors can enjoy stunning sea views; on clear days, islands such as Huojing Islet and Tongpan Islet can be seen, offering a picturesque panorama. The park, developed from the abandoned military camp, provides a leisurely walking experience along its paths, showcasing magnificent basalt formations and various species of cacti. The area is abundant with local flora such as cacti, tree of heaven, and cosmos, along with the remnants of basalt bunkers from the Japanese period. The park features military relics like Dasha Gun Battery, an ostrich area, a petting zoo, and a carousel, as well as flower shops named Daxian, Yantou, and Jinhua, along with facilities like the Vision Hall, Sunset Trail, and observation decks. Qingwan Cactus Park preserves a diverse array of unique plants and maintains the historical military structures, including barracks, observation posts, gun emplacements, ammunition depots, and drainage ditches. Visitors can appreciate not only the rich natural ecology but also the historical relics. The park is carpeted with the local specialty plant, "cactus," which thrives despite the sea breeze and scorching sun. The corners formed by clusters of cacti and the impressive views provided by the basalt bunkers and columnar basalt create a charming scenery. As you walk, you'll encounter lovely cosmos flowers adorning the paths. Upon reaching the elevated point, you'll be greeted by an endless sea view; at sunset, the sea sparkles with golden highlights, and the lingering twilight tints the clouds above, reflecting vivid colors in the horizon, offering a mesmerizing experience. [Recommended stay time] 3 hours.
