Qingwan Cactus Park (Temporarily Closed) Introduction
Qingwan Cactus Park was originally a military camp during the Japanese occupation, covering an area of 18 hectares with an elevation of 37.1 meters at its highest point. The area is filled with cacti, fortifications made of basalt from the Japanese era, and unique columnar basalt formations. From the highest point, visitors can enjoy a view of the sea, and on clear days, islands such as Huojing Island and Tongpan Island can be seen, providing a stunning view. The park, developed from the abandoned military camp, allows for easy walking along its paths, showcasing magnificent basalt landscapes and various types of cacti. It features local tree species such as cacti, Jiongma, and Tainian daisies, along with the basalt fortifications from the Japanese period. The park includes military relics like Dasha artillery fort, an ostrich area, a cute animal area, and a carousel, as well as flower halls named Daxian, Yanti, and Jinhua, along with the Vision Hall, Sunset Trail, fortifications, observation platforms, and coastal viewing areas. Qingwan Cactus Park preserves a variety of unique plants and maintains the structures from the Japanese military era, such as barracks, observation posts, artillery fortifications, ammunition depots, and drainage ditches. Here, visitors can enjoy rich natural ecology as well as historical relics. The park is filled with local plants characteristic of Penghu, particularly cacti that have endured sea winds and strong sunlight, creating an enchanting scenery with areas where cacti intertwine, alongside the fortifications made of basalt and columnar basalt. Along the way, lovely Tainian daisies embellish the path, and from the elevated points, the vast sea unfolds. At sunset, the sea sparkles with golden hues, the afterglow paints the clouds in the sky, and the sea merges into the sky reflecting colorful clouds, creating a mesmerizing experience. 【Recommended stay time】 3 hours
