The predecessor was the earliest thermal power plant in Chiayi City and the first steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) structure in Chiayi City, completed in 1913. It was one of the early buildings in Taiwan that utilized new construction technology, featuring a rare high-span design; currently, this historical building has been renovated and repurposed as a wood carving exhibition space.
