Chiayi City Museum Introduction
The Chiayi City Museum, located next to the Chiayi Lumber Factory, was established in 2004 and was the only large-scale multifunctional museum in the Chiayi area at its inception. Its exhibits primarily focus on the natural landscapes of Chiayi, including geology and fossils. In 2018, the museum closed for updates and repositioned itself as a "city museum" of Chiayi City with a new mission: "Chiayi people care about Chiayi matters, and outsiders explore Chiayi City." The museum showcases the cultural characteristics, history, and life memories of Chiayi City, aspiring to become a museum belonging to the city and its citizens. The redefined Chiayi City Museum, as a "city museum," offers new spaces and content for audiences to view Chiayi from a fresh perspective. The first floor features the "Exploration Chiayi" children's hall, allowing children to experience the city's history through play; the second floor hosts the permanent exhibition "Prospects of Zhu Luo," which enables visitors to see Chiayi, history, the future, and themselves through the displays; the third floor is dedicated to the "Building on Moving Stories - Come Listen to Temple Storytellers," showcasing the unique craftsmanship of Chiayi's traditional ceramics in a museum-within-a-museum format. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00.
