The predecessor was the earliest thermal power plant in Chiayi City and also the first steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) structure in Chiayi City, completed in 1913. It was a rare high-ceilinged large-span building constructed using early modern architectural technology. Currently, this historical building has been renovated and repurposed as a woodcarving exhibition space.
