The predecessor was the earliest thermal power plant in Chiayi City and the first steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) structure in Chiayi City, completed in 1913. It was one of the early buildings in Taiwan to utilize new construction technology, featuring a rare high and large-span architecture. Currently, this historic building has been renovated and repurposed as a woodcarving exhibition space.
