Gangping Sports Park Introduction
The whole family can enjoy extreme sports! The Gangping Sports Park, officially known as the "Municipal Sports Park," is located in Gangping Township, and is therefore also referred to as the Gangping Sports Park. Since its establishment, it has had high usage rates and covers an area of 85,000 square meters, accommodating up to 3,200 people. After renovations and planning, it now features tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields, a skating rink, and a children's playground. Newly built facilities include a skateboarding park, a parking lot with 120 spaces, a lawn bowling field, and a croquet field. The newly constructed skateboarding park includes features such as a standing platform, a skating platform, ramps, a half-pipe, stairways, and curves. One of its main features is the "extreme sports facilities," which were specially added based on former Mayor Chen Li-jen's directive to cater to the interest of young people in rollerblading. However, for safety and general usability, the skating platform and curves are standardized to regular difficulty levels. During the construction process, the overall safety was coordinated and discussed with architects to ensure that the newly built extreme sports facilities are not too professional or difficult, preventing them from being used only by a few elite athletes. All facilities are primarily designed to be of general and low difficulty, thoughtfully making Gangping Sports Park one of the best places in Taiwan for rollerblading.
