Gangping Sports Park Introduction
The whole family can enjoy extreme sports! The Gangping Sports Park, officially named "Municipal Sports Park," is located in Gangping Village, hence it is also referred to as Gangping Sports Park. Since its establishment, it has seen high usage rates, covering an area of 85,000 square meters with a capacity for 3,200 people. After renovation and planning, it now includes tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields, a skating rink, a children's playground, and newly added facilities such as an extreme sports area, a parking lot with 120 spaces, bocce ball courts, and croquet fields. The newly built extreme sports facility features a standing platform, sliding platform, ramps, half-pipe, stairs, and curves. One of its outstanding features is the "extreme sports facility," specifically constructed under the direction of former Mayor Chen Licheng to cater to the youths' interest in rollerblading. For safety and accessibility, the sliding platform, curves, and other facilities are designed to be of standard difficulty. Throughout the construction process, there was ongoing coordination and discussion regarding overall safety with the architect to ensure that the newly constructed extreme sports facilities would not be overly professional or difficult, thus preventing them from being exclusive to only elite athletes. All facilities are mainly focused on general and low difficulty levels, and this thoughtful design has made Gangping Sports Park a suitable place for rollerblading in Taiwan.
