KANO Park Introduction
The KANO Park in Chiayi City was completed in August 2017, allowing everyone to revisit the proud baseball history of Chiayi City. Featuring an outdoor amphitheater and a baseball sculpture area opposite the Family Education Center, it includes bronze baseball bats and glove-shaped seating. The ground is paved with stone slabs that bear quotes from the film "KANO." For example, "The papaya tree with no retreat will surely bear sweet fruit," and "There are no shortcuts to playing baseball, only hard practice." The "Baseball Century Avenue," which is 40 meters wide and 180 meters long, used to be the only route for the Chiayi Agricultural High School baseball team to the stadium. Both the stone slabs on the ground and the adjacent baseball hall of fame thoughtfully present the history of the Chiayi Agricultural High School baseball team, introducing the 16 players who reached the championship in Koshien. Of course, the 4-ton, 5-meter diameter KANO landscape ball, made of aluminum alloy and adorned with over 120 hollow rings, is a highlight. It shines brightly in the daytime and features a colorful light show at night, each displaying a different charm. It’s also a great spot for playful photo opportunities, whether you want to hold the ball in your hand or kick it around in a humorous pose—creative shots can be captured from all angles!
