Daxi Tsuo Water Environment Education Park Introduction
Daqizuo Water Environmental Education Park was originally a wasteland next to Ziwigong in Daqi Village. Through the Executive Yuan’s Forward-looking Project - Water Environment Improvement Program, a project for water quality improvement and riverside environment restoration was approved. This park not only provides environmental education but also improves water quality and nurtures ecology. The park covers an area of 0.65 hectares and features an underground aerated oxidizing tank with a daily treatment capacity of 3,000 tons. It utilizes naturally existing microorganisms in the water to decompose pollutants. After treatment, domestic wastewater can reduce biochemical oxygen demand by 66.1%, suspended solids by 79%, and ammonia nitrogen by 85%. The natural purification method differs from traditional sewage treatment plants that use coagulation and sedimentation, as it does not require the addition of chemicals, making it extremely eco-friendly. Daqizuo Water Environmental Education Park employs natural purification methods to improve water quality while developing environmental experiential education that highlights local cultural and historical characteristics, water purification, and ecological creation. This promotes public awareness, ethics, and responsibility towards the environment, thereby constructing an inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable city. The park is equipped with sports facilities such as basketball, badminton, and tennis courts, as well as children's playgrounds, environmental education classrooms, artificial wetlands, and bird-watching pavilions. It is the first multifunctional venue in Chiayi City to integrate water quality purification, ecological conservation, environmental education, and recreational activities, and it is located on the bicycle route leading to the flower sea in the urban area, making it suitable for visits and stopovers.
