Wulai was once the living settlement of the Atayal people, making them the true owners of Wulai. The establishment of the Atayal Indigenous Museum in Wulai, the only mountainous area in New Taipei City, holds special significance. The meticulously planned exhibitions provide a comprehensive overview of the Atayal people's lifestyle, including their food, clothing, housing, and cultural philosophy. Thus, the Atayal Indigenous Museum introduces the history and living conditions of the Atayal people. The first floor showcases artifacts related to the Atayal’s origin, migration, and hunting, as well as the natural ecology of the Wulai area. The second floor presents an introduction to the traditional facial tattooing, which is a crucial ritual in Atayal culture. Only those men and women skilled in hunting and weaving are qualified to have facial tattoos and to marry. The third floor exhibits the daily utensils and traditional crafts of the Atayal people. On weekends, visitors can enjoy performances of singing and dancing by local Atayal people, as well as participate in DIY courses such as glass bead stringing, Atayal weaving, and bracelet making.

Transportation Methods:1. Bus: Take the Xin Dian Bus from Qing Dao East Road, Taipei City → Roosevelt Road → Xin Dian → Qu Chi → Wulai Station. 2. Metro: Take the MRT to Xin Dian Station, then transfer to Xin Dian Bus 849 to Wulai Station.


Remarks:1. Smoking, betel nut chewing, and gum chewing are completely prohibited. 2. Please do not wear or remove shoes and wooden clogs inside the venue. 3. Please do not bring dangerous items, large items, food, long umbrellas, balloons, or pets. 4. Please do not use mobile phones, eat, make noise, or play in the exhibition hall. 5. Please do not touch the exhibits.
