Wulai Scenic Area Introduction
In early spring, from the mountain road to the Wulai Waterfall area within the Wulai Scenic Area, the branches of mountain cherry blossoms burst into bloom, captivating visitors. Every year after the Lunar New Year, tourists can be seen going up the mountain to enjoy cherry blossoms and hot springs, capturing the stunning sights of cherry blossoms along the mountain road, waterfall park, Xiluo'an Road, and County Road 107. The earliest to bloom is the Taiwanese cherry, followed by the pale pink Yoshino cherry, and the romantically light purple Yaezakura cherry, all blossoming in succession, creating a breathtaking view. The Wulai mountain cherry, also known as the early-blooming cherry, blooms from January to March each year and is one of the deepest and most vibrant cherry blossom species. During its blooming season, the trees are adorned with brilliant red flowers, coloring the entire lush valley, making it the best cherry blossom viewing spot in northern Taiwan. From November to February each year, visitors to the banks of the Wulai River Valley also have the chance to hear the singing of the five-colored birds courting, see unique stream birds like the purple thrush, slate-colored thrush, and kingfisher, and observe the majestic Osprey soaring over the canyon. Additionally, bamboo chickens, eastern crowned warblers, Taiwan blue magpies, tree magpies, giant-billed crows, gray wagtails, little brown dippers, little swifts, and many others make this a uniquely rich natural classroom.
