Wulai Scenic Area Introduction
In early spring, along the Huai'an Scenic Area from Huanshan Road to the Wulai Waterfall area, especially from the back of the Yunshan Gondola Station to the Waterfall Park, the branches of mountain cherry blossoms bloom, captivating visitors. Every year after the Lunar New Year, you can see tourists going up the mountains to enjoy the cherry blossoms and soak in hot springs. They can capture the stunning sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom along Huanshan Road, Waterfall Park, Xiluowan Road, and County Road 107. The earliest to bloom are the Taiwanese sakura, followed by the Yoshino cherry with its white and pink hues, and the romantic pale purple Yaezakura, creating a breathtaking view. The Wulai mountain cherry, also known as the Taiwanese cherry, blooms from January to March each year, and is one of the deepest and most vibrant types of cherry blossoms. When in bloom, the trees are filled with bright red blossoms that color the entire lush valley, making it the best cherry blossom viewing destination in northern Taiwan. From November to February each year, visitors along the banks of the Wulai River Valley also have the chance to hear various birds singing their courtship songs, such as the Purple-backed Starling, Lead-colored Starlings, Kingfishers, and the majestic Crested Serpent Eagle soaring above the canyon. Additionally, there are Bamboo Partridges, Fairy Bluebirds, Taiwan Blue Magpies, Formosan Magpies, Large-billed Crows, Gray Wagtails, Little Forktails, Little Swifts, and more, making it a unique natural classroom.
