Yehliu Fishing Harbor Introduction
Yehliu Fishing Port is located in Yehliu Village, Wanli District, New Taipei City. It was built using the natural bay on the western side of Yehliu Peninsula, with a 100-meter breakwater and a simple dock for small boats established during the Japanese colonial period. After the restoration of Taiwan, the government sent personnel to survey and propose construction plans. Over time, Yehliu Fishing Port gradually expanded, and with the opening of the Yangmingshan National Park interchange on National Highway No. 1, local fishery products can access the highway directly without entering Keelung City, greatly expanding the shipping range and enhancing Yehliu Fishing Port's importance in North Taiwan's fishing industry. In recent years, the construction of the outer breakwaters has significantly improved the port's calmness, although it mostly benefits the inner harbor area. During typhoons, local fishing boats still need to seek refuge at Keelung and nearby Jinshan Fishing Port when there is insufficient room in the inner harbor. Visitors to this area can experience the fishing port atmosphere of the small town and enjoy fresh seafood. As night falls, the sight of fishing boats dotting the harbor is truly beautiful. Walking along Yehliu Street, one can soak in the town's fishing port charm, with the sea breeze gently blowing and the scent of the ocean in the air. Heading up alongside Renwu Temple next to Yehliu Elementary School, the entire landscape of Yehliu Fishing Port unfolds before your eyes, and as night arrives, the beautiful scene of fishing boats can be admired.
