Yehliu Fishing Port Introduction
Yehliu Fishing Port is located in Yehliu Village, Wanli District, New Taipei City. It was built using the natural bay on the west side of Yehliu Peninsula. During the Japanese colonial period, a 100-meter breakwater and a simple dock for small boats were established. After the government conducted surveys and plans for reconstruction following Taiwan's retrocession, Yehliu Fishing Port gradually expanded. With the opening of the Wuchi Road Interchange on the National Freeway No. 1, the local fish products can be transported directly to the freeway without entering Keelung City, significantly widening the distribution area and enhancing the importance of Yehliu Fishing Port in the fishing industry of northern Taiwan. In recent years, the construction of the eastern breakwater and western breakwater has greatly improved the calmness of the port area; however, this only applies to the inner anchorage area. During typhoons, local fishing boats still need to seek shelter in Keelung and nearby Jinshan Fishing Port when the inner anchorage is insufficient. Visitors here can experience the fishing port charm of the small town, savor fresh seafood, and enjoy the beautiful sight of fishing boats dotting the night. Walking along Yehliu Street, the coastal breeze carries the scent of the sea, enhancing the fishing port atmosphere of the town. Walking up from Renwu Temple next to Yehliu Elementary School, the entire landscape of Yehliu Fishing Port comes into view, and it becomes particularly beautiful as night falls, with fishing boats scattered on the water.
