Yehliu Fishing Port Introduction
Yehliu Fishing Port is located in Yehliu Village, Wanli District, New Taipei City. It was constructed using the natural bay on the west side of Yehliu Peninsula. During the Japanese colonial period, a 100-meter breakwater was already built, along with a simple small dock for small vessels. After the retrocession, the government sent personnel to survey and formulate a construction plan. Later, Yehliu Fishing Port gradually expanded, and with the opening of the Ba Interchange on National Freeway No. 1, local seafood no longer needs to enter Keelung city and can directly access the freeway, greatly expanding the export range and enhancing the importance of Yehliu Fishing Port in northern Taiwan's fishing industry. In recent years, the construction of the eastern and western outer breakwaters has greatly improved the stability of the port area, though it only applies to the inner anchorage area. During typhoons, local fishing boats still have to go to Keelung and the nearby Jinshan Fishing Port for shelter when the inner anchorage is insufficient. Visitors to this area can experience the fishing port charm of the small town and enjoy fresh seafood. At night, the sight of fishing boats is very beautiful. Walking along Yehliu Street, one can feel the fishing port atmosphere of the town, with the sea breeze gently blowing and the scent of the sea in the air. Walking up from Renwu Temple next to Yehliu Elementary School, you can take in the entire view of Yehliu Fishing Port, which looks especially beautiful at night with the twinkling fishing boats.
