Yeh Liu Fishing Harbor Introduction
Yehliu Fishing Port is located in Yehliu Village, Wanli District, New Taipei City. It was built using the natural bay on the west side of Yehliu Peninsula. During the Japanese occupation, a 100-meter breakwater and a simple small dock for small vessels were already established. After the end of the occupation, the government conducted a survey and developed construction plans. Subsequently, Yehliu Fishing Port gradually expanded, and with the opening of the National Freeway No. 1's Yilan Interchange, local fishery products can go directly to the highway without entering Keelung City, greatly expanding the port's shipping range and enhancing its significance in northern Taiwan's fishing industry. In recent years, the construction of the eastern and western outer breakwaters has greatly improved the calmness of the port area, although this enhancement is limited to the inner harbor. During typhoons, when the inner harbor is insufficient, local fishing boats still need to go to Keelung and the nearby Jinshan Fishing Port for shelter. Visitors can experience the fishing port atmosphere of the small town, enjoy fresh seafood, and admire the beautiful sight of fishing boats at night. Walking along Yehliu Street, one can feel the fishing port vibe of the town, with the sea breeze gently blowing and the scent of the ocean in the air. Ascending along the Renwu Temple next to Yehliu Elementary School, the entire view of Yehliu Fishing Port comes into view. When night falls, the sight of fishing boats is very beautiful.
