Yehliu Fishing Port Introduction
Yehliu Fishing Port is located in the Yehliu Village of Wanli District, New Taipei City. It was established using the natural harbor on the west side of Yehliu Peninsula. During the Japanese occupation, a 100-meter breakwater and a simple small pier for docking fishing boats were constructed. After the restoration of Taiwan, the government sent personnel to survey and draft construction plans. Subsequently, Yehliu Fishing Port was gradually expanded, and with the opening of the Banqiao Interchange on the National Highway No. 1, local fish products could be transported directly to the highway without needing to enter Keelung City, greatly expanding the port's trade area and enhancing its importance in the fishing industry of Northern Taiwan. In recent years, the construction of the East and West outer breakwaters has significantly improved the harbor's stability, but it is still limited to the inner anchorage area. During typhoon seasons, when the inner anchorage is insufficient, local fishing boats must still seek refuge in Keelung and nearby Jinshan Fishing Port. Visitors to this area can experience the fishing port charm of the small town and enjoy fresh seafood. As night falls, the sight of fishing boats is particularly beautiful. Walking along Yehliu Street, one can feel the unique fishing port ambiance of the town, with the sea breeze gently blowing and a hint of the sea fragrance in the air. Walking up the path beside Yehliu Elementary School towards Renwu Temple, the entire view of Yehliu Fishing Port unfolds before you, and when night comes, the scene of fishing boats is truly stunning.
