Yehliu Fishing Harbor Introduction
Yehliu Fishing Harbor is located in the Yehliu Village of Wanli District, New Taipei City. It was built utilizing the natural bay on the western side of Yehliu Peninsula, and during the Japanese colonial period, a 100-meter breakwater and a simple small dock for small vessels were established. After the end of the war, the government sent personnel to survey and draft reconstruction plans. Subsequently, Yehliu Fishing Harbor was gradually expanded, and with the opening of the號八 Interchange of the National Highway No. 1, local fish products could be transported directly to the highway without going through Keelung City, greatly expanding the port's trading range and enhancing Yehliu Fishing Harbor's importance in northern Taiwan's fishery sector. In recent years, the construction of the eastern and western breakwaters has significantly improved the calmness of the harbor area, although this is limited to the inner anchorage; during typhoons, local fishing boats still need to head to Keelung or nearby Jinshan Fishing Harbor for shelter when the inner anchorage is insufficient. Visitors can experience the fishing harbor atmosphere of the small town, indulge in fresh seafood, and enjoy the beautiful sight of fishing boats dotting the harbor when night falls. Walking along Yehliu Street, one can feel the unique fishing harbor charm of the town, with the ocean breeze gently blowing and a salty sea scent in the air. Walking up from Renwu Temple next to Yehliu Elementary School, the entire view of Yehliu Fishing Harbor is in sight, and it becomes enchanting when night falls, with fishing boats scattered throughout the harbor.
