Wulai Red River Valley Introduction
Wulai Red River Valley is located at the confluence of the Jiuliao River and the Nanshi River. The water is cool and crystal clear, free from pollution, allowing fish and shrimp to swim freely. From the red Jiuliao Scenic Bridge, you can overlook various oddly shaped giant rocks that contrast beautifully with the emerald stream, creating a grand valley landscape that has earned Red River Valley the nickname "Little Taroko." The Red River, located in Wulai District, was formerly known as Jiuliao. As the Nanshi River flows through this area, it forms a large bend. The actions of cutting and squeezing have caused the rocks along the riverbank to tilt at a 45-degree angle. Coupled with the capture by a nearby tributary, this has created a broad riverbed of slanted rock layers, resembling magnificent paintings crafted by nature, making it irresistible for travelers to pause and admire. In addition to enjoying the spectacular landscape of Red River Valley, visitors might also consider taking a stroll along the flat Jiuliao Trail. This trail was transformed from a former cart path used for transporting timber, stretching 2.1 kilometers to the Wulai Tourist Bridge. The entire path is gently sloping, flanked by lush trees that provide shade, and features a rich natural ecosystem with species such as butterflies, tree frogs, and various plants. It is an ideal spot to immerse oneself in the embrace of nature. Trail length: 2.1 kilometers Elevation: 145-155 meters Surface condition: Primitive mountain trail Walking time: 1-1.5 hours
