Wulai Red River Valley Introduction
Wulai Red River Valley is located at the confluence of the Jialiao Creek and the Nanshi Creek. The creek water is cool, clear, and unpolluted, allowing fish and shrimp to swim freely. From the red Jialiao Scenic Bridge, one can overlook various uniquely shaped and towering rocks, contrasting beautifully with the emerald creek. This magnificent valley landscape has earned the Red River Valley the nickname "Little Taroko." The Red River, formerly known as "Jialiao," is situated in the Wulai District. Due to the flow of the Nanshi Creek, it creates a large bend, leading to a 45-degree incline of rocks along the creek bank caused by cutting and squeezing actions. Additionally, a side stream has eroded the area, forming a wide riverbed with sloping rock layers, resembling exquisite works of art. This stunning landscape often compels travelers to stop and admire it. In addition to enjoying the spectacular geographical features of the Red River Valley, one may also visit the flat Jialiao Trail. This trail was transformed from a former cart path used for transporting timber, stretching 2.1 kilometers to the Wulai Scenic Bridge. The entire route is gentle, shaded by trees on both sides, and boasts a rich natural ecosystem with various species such as butterflies, tree frogs, and reed plants, making it an ideal place to embrace nature. Trail length: 2.1 kilometers Elevation: 145-155 meters Trail condition: Primitive mountain path Walking time: 1-1.5 hours
