Wulai Red River Valley Introduction
Wulai Red Valley is located at the confluence of the Jialiliao Stream and the Nanshi Stream, where the water is cool, clear, and free of pollution, allowing fish and shrimp to swim freely. From the red Jialiliao Scenic Bridge, one can overlook various uniquely shaped large rocks, contrasting beautifully with the emerald stream. This grand valley landscape has earned Red Valley the nickname "Little Taroko." The river in Wulai District is known as Honghe, formerly called "Jialiliao." The Nanshi Stream flows through this area, creating a significant bend that, under cutting and compressing forces, causes the rocks along the streambank to tilt at a 45-degree angle. Additionally, a nearby tributary has eroded the landscape, forming a large sloped riverbed that resembles exquisite artistic masterpieces, inviting travelers to pause and admire the view. Besides appreciating the spectacular geological features of Red Valley, visitors may also wish to explore the flat Jialiliao Trail. The Jialiliao Trail was transformed from an old logging cart path, spanning 2.1 kilometers to the Wulai Scenic Bridge, with gentle terrain. The trail is shaded by lush trees and hosts a rich natural ecosystem, including butterflies, tree frogs, and bamboo, making it an ideal spot to enjoy the embrace of nature. Trail length: 2.1 kilometers; Elevation: 145-155 meters; Surface condition: primitive mountain path; Walking time: 1-1.5 hours.
