Wulai Red Valley Introduction
Wulai Red Valley is located at the confluence of the Jiajiuliao Creek and the Nanshi Creek, where the water is cool and clear, unpolluted, allowing fish and shrimp to swim freely. From the red Jiajiuliao Scenic Bridge, one can overlook various oddly shaped large rocks, contrasting beautifully with the emerald stream. This magnificent valley landscape has earned Red Valley the nickname "Little Taroko." The river, formerly known as "Jiajiuliao," flows through Wulai District, where the Nanshi Creek creates a large bend. Undercutting and pressure have tilted the riverside rocks at a 45-degree angle, and an adjacent tributary has eroded the area, forming a wide riverbed of sloping rock layers, resembling exquisite, stunning artworks that compel travelers to pause and appreciate the scenery. In addition to admiring the spectacular landscape of Red Valley, one can conveniently visit the flat Jiajiuliao Trail. The Jiajiuliao Trail was transformed from an old cart path used for transporting timber, stretching 2.1 kilometers to the Wulai Scenic Bridge. The entire path is smooth, bordered by trees that provide shade, and hosts a rich natural ecosystem featuring butterflies, green-striped butterflies, small tree frogs, and pen tree. It is an ideal place to wander and embrace nature. Trail length: 2.1 kilometers; Elevation: 145-155 meters; Surface condition: Primitive mountain trail; Walking time: 1-1.5 hours.
