Wulai Red River Valley Introduction
Wulai Red River Valley is located at the confluence of the Jiajuiliao River and the Nanshi River. The water is cool, crystal-clear, and pollution-free, allowing fish and shrimp to swim freely. From the reddish Jiajuiliao Scenic Bridge, one can gaze down at various oddly shaped, towering boulders that contrast beautifully with the emerald green stream. Such a magnificent valley landscape has earned the Red River Valley the nickname "Little Taroko." The Red River, located in Wulai District, was formerly known as "Jiajuiliao." As the Nanshi River flows through this area, it creates a large bend, and under the effects of cutting and compression, the rocks along the streambank tilt at a 45-degree angle. Additionally, a tributary has invaded the area, forming a wide riverbed of tilted rock layers, resembling stunning masterpieces of nature that compel travelers to stop and admire. Besides enjoying the spectacular landscapes of the Red River Valley, visitors should not miss the nearby flat Jiajuiliao Trail. The Jiajuiliao Trail, once a cart path for transporting timber, has been transformed into a walking trail that is 2.1 kilometers long, ending at the Wulai Scenic Bridge. The trail is flat throughout its course, flanked by lush trees, and hosts a rich natural ecosystem with species such as butterfly, green-banded butterfly, small tree frogs, and pen bamboo. It is an ideal place to leisurely embrace nature. Trail length: 2.1 kilometers Altitude: 145-155 meters Surface condition: Natural mountain path Walking time: 1-1.5 hours
