Hsiao-Tzu Mountain Hiking Trail Introduction
Xiaotzu Mountain, located between Jing Tong Station and Pingxi Station on the Pingxi Branch Line, is actually a collective term for a hiking trail system that includes several independent peaks, such as Xiaotzu Mountain, Cimu Peak, Putuo Mountain, Ci'en Ridge, and Central Peak. Although the elevation is not as high as other mountains, its steep rock faces are not to be overlooked. The most thrilling part of climbing Xiaotzu Mountain is the final section, which involves an air-steel ladder leading to the summit. Upon successfully ascending this nearly vertical rock face, visitors are treated to a panoramic view of the Keelung River valley. Surrounded by numerous peaks, a total of over 20 mountains are found here, earning it the name "Twenty-four Filial Mountains." Due to its shape resembling China's Huangshan, Xiaotzu Mountain is also referred to as "Little Huangshan."
