Jingtong Station Introduction
As the final stop of the Pingxi Line, Jiongtong is relatively quiet compared to the bustling Shifen and Pingxi. The adjacent Japanese wooden Jiongtong Station exudes a strong nostalgic atmosphere, not only serving as a filming location for advertisements and movies but also attracting many travelers from both domestic and abroad to take photos. Visitors arriving on the swaying train will first see the Jiongtong Station, built in 1929, which was designated as a historic site in 2003. This station was an important facility for transporting coal, and directly across from the station lies the valuable mining relic—the coal washing plant. Today, the tall washing plant has transformed into a café. While here, it's recommended to enjoy a cup of coffee and reflect on Jiongtong's mining history, as well as visit the "Jiongtong Electronic Lantern Museum," known as the only lantern-shaped building in the world, and the "Railway Story Museum," which is a must-see for railway enthusiasts. Don't forget to write a wish on a bamboo tube to leave your travel footprint in Jiongtong.
