Jingtong Station Introduction
Jingtong, being the last station on the Pingxi Line, has a more tranquil atmosphere compared to the bustling Shifen and Pingxi. The Japanese wooden Jingtong Station, located next to the old street, exudes a strong sense of nostalgia and has become a filming location for advertisements and movies, attracting many domestic and international travelers for photo opportunities. Travelers arriving on the swaying train are greeted by the Jingtong Station, built in 1929, which was designated as a historic site in 2003. This station was once an important facility for transporting coal. Directly across from the station is a valuable mining relic—the coal washing plant, which has now been transformed into a café. Here, visitors might enjoy a cup of coffee while reflecting on Jingtong's mining history. Nearby, one can visit the world’s only sky lantern-themed "Jingtong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum" and the "Railway Story Museum," a must for railway enthusiasts. Don't forget to write a wish on a bamboo tube, leaving your mark on your journey in Jingtong.
