Jingtong Station Introduction
Since Jing Tong is the last stop on the Pingxi Line, it feels a bit more tranquil compared to the busyness of Shifen and Pingxi. The nearby Japanese wooden Jing Tong Station emits a strong sense of nostalgia and has become a popular location for advertisements and movies, attracting many domestic and international travelers to take photos. Travelers arriving on the swaying train will first see the Jing Tong Station, built in 1929, which was designated as a historical site in 2003. It was once an important facility for transporting coal. Directly opposite the station is a precious mining relic—the coal washing plant, which has now been transformed into a café. Here, visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee while reflecting on Jing Tong's mining history. Nearby, you can visit the world's only sky lantern-shaped "Jing Tong Sky Lantern Museum" and the "Railway Story Museum," which is a must-see for railway enthusiasts. Don't forget to write a wish on a bamboo tube to leave your footprints in Jing Tong.
