Jingtong Station Introduction
As the last stop on the Pingxi Line, Jing Tong feels somewhat serene compared to the bustling atmosphere of Shifen and Pingxi. The neighboring Japanese wooden Jing Tong Station exudes a strong nostalgic vibe and has become a filming location for advertisements and movies, attracting many domestic and international travelers to take photos. Upon arriving on the swaying train, visitors first see the Jing Tong Station, built in 1929, which was designated as a historic site in 2003. It was once an important facility for transporting coal, and directly across from the station lies the valuable mining relic—the coal washing plant. Today, the tall washing plant has been transformed into a café. When you visit, be sure to grab a cup of coffee and reflect on Jing Tong's mining history. You can also stroll to the world’s only sky lantern-shaped "Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum," and the "Railway Story Museum," which no railway enthusiast should miss. Don’t forget to write your wishes on a bamboo tube to leave your travel mark in Jing Tong.
