Yuanwangkeng Riverside Park Introduction
Caoling Historic Trail is one of the most famous hiking trails in the northern region, with its northern entrance located in the Yuanwangkeng area of Gongliao District. In this tranquil valley surrounded by mountains, walking along the trail among the pristine terraced fields and stream valleys, one can only hear the symphony of birds chirping and the gentle flow of water. In late summer to early fall, the fragrant wild ginger flowers bloom, making it feel like a paradise on earth. At the entrance in Gongliao District, there is a small but richly landscaped Yuanwangkeng Waterside Park. Visitors can enjoy the view of the rustic terraced fields and the naturally formed ecological pond; then, by walking along the stone path by the creek, they will arrive at a calm pond where a quaint arch bridge and a double water pavilion stand. Crossing the arch bridge and walking to the observation bridge, the clear stream reveals schools of Taiwan creek fish and bitterling fish swimming about, creating a spectacular sight. This tranquil valley scenery is an excellent destination for nature ecological tourism.
