Boai Art Street Introduction
Bo'ai Street, located in Yonghe District, New Taipei City, was initiated by several retired teachers who had high hopes for community development, leading to the establishment of the New Taipei City Yonghe Arts Education Development Association. The aim is to integrate art into daily life and bring it into the neighborhood. This 500-meter-long Bo'ai Art Street has increasingly rich cultural atmosphere, transformed through a special street creation plan into an art street. The best urban art should not just remain in the realm of museums; ideally, art should take to the streets, or the streets should become art. A specially paved pedestrian walkway extends from Yonghe Road to the end of the street, leading to the Yonghe branch of Zhuangjing High School. Its charred red roof tiles and white walls are complemented by artistic carved arches and ornamental windows, along with more than 20 large reproductions of oil paintings by local artist Yang Sanlang installed along the surrounding wall. The museum of artist Yang Sanlang quietly sits in the middle of the street. Here, you can stroll along the beautiful tree-lined Delonix regia avenue and enter the museum to appreciate its rich collection of artworks. In the tranquil alleys, there are also many small surprises waiting for you to discover.
