Boai Art Street Introduction
Bo'ai Street, located in Yonghe District, New Taipei City, was initiated by a group of retired teachers who had hopes for community development, leading to the establishment of the New Taipei City Yonghe Art Education Development Association. The aim was to integrate art into daily life and bring it into the neighborhoods. This 500-meter-long Bo'ai Art Street has increasingly developed a rich cultural atmosphere. It has transformed into an art street through a special street-making project, where the best urban art should not just remain within museum walls but rather be brought to the streets or have the streets become the art itself. A specially paved sidewalk extends from Yonghe Road to the end of the street, leading to the Yonghe branch of Zhuangjing Vocational High School, adorned with red tiled roofs and white walls complemented by artistic baroque arches and windows. Over 20 large replicated oil paintings by local artist Yang San-lang are installed along the surrounding wall. Yang San-lang's museum quietly resides in the middle of the street, where you can stroll along the beautifully shaded flamboyant tree path and enter the museum to appreciate its rich collection of artworks. In the tranquil alleys, there are many small surprises awaiting your discovery.
