Baofu Temple Introduction
Yonghe Baofuguang Temple primarily worships Emperor Baosheng, and has a history of over two hundred years since its establishment as a branch of Dalongdong Bao'an Temple. It is a sacred place for the believers in the Shuanghe area to pray for peace and blessings, as well as to find tranquility for their minds. The temple was rebuilt in the 100th year of the Republic of China, featuring a double-eaved, hip-and-gable style of architecture. The decorative art on the roof, the wooden carvings of the coffered ceilings, the stone carvings of the dragon pillars, and the paintings on the interior walls are all vivid and intricately crafted, showcasing a rich cultural and artistic value. The early immigrants in Yonghe were primarily from Quanzhou, which is why they have a strong belief in Emperor Baosheng. At that time, residents in Yonghe had to walk to Dalongdong Bao'an Temple in Taipei City to worship Emperor Baosheng, which was not only a long journey but also a challenging one, as there were no bridges and residents had to wade through water. Thus, the residents of Yonghe pooled their resources to finally raise the funds to build their temple, leading to the establishment of Baofuguang Temple to house the spirit of Emperor Baosheng.
