Gongguan Riverside Plaza Introduction
Gongguan Riverside Plaza is a recreational area near the Xindian River in Taipei City. It is also the source of water for Taipei City from a century ago and the only scenic space without flood control structures. On weekdays, it provides a place for the public to relax and enjoy the riverside scenery, making it one of the few leisure areas in the city open 24 hours. In the morning, people come here for exercises such as tai chi, running, and cycling, and there is a bike rental station allowing visitors to enjoy riding along the riverside paths. In the evening, there are international food stalls and stylish bars, and every Friday night, there are free live band performances, creating a rare outdoor bar area in Taipei paired with delicious riverside cuisine. On the south side of the plaza, there is PIPE Live Music, transformed from the city-designated historical site "Hunsui Pumping Station." After ten years of planning and operation, it has become one of the few successful cases in the world of repurposing a historical pumping station into a music performance space, hosting over 300 music events annually. It serves as the first stage for many well-known Taiwanese bands and a place where many young people learn hardware skills such as lighting and sound. The plaza regularly hosts markets on weekends, focusing on youth cultural and creative products and handmade goods, accompanied by live DJ performances. You are welcome to come and enjoy the passion of the market and the feast of music. (Source: Taipei Water Resource Park)
