Shuangxi Station Introduction
Shuangxi Station, located in Shuangxi District, New Taipei City, was formerly known as "Ding Shuangxi Station." It has two island platforms and was originally a wooden station at an elevation of about 35 meters above sea level. Due to the prosperous coal mining industry, the number of passengers increased daily, and both passenger and freight services grew, leading to the station's conversion into a concrete structure to meet business demands. The platforms and roadbed of Shuangxi Station are positioned at a higher elevation, and the section between Shuangxi Station and Mudan Station is known for its steep gradient of 1:16, referred to as "Mudan Slope" by railway enthusiasts. In the narrow area from Shuangxi Station to the banks of Mudan River, due to its convenient transportation, a different type of commercial street has developed, making it the liveliest spot in present-day Shuangxi. It is only about 100 meters from the station to the riverside, where one can see the unique architectural styles of the northeastern mountain areas.
