Shuangxi Station Introduction
Shuangxi Station, located in Shuangxi District, New Taipei City, was formerly known as "Ding Shuangxi Station." It features two island platforms and was originally a wooden station at an elevation of about 35 meters above sea level. Due to the growth of the coal mining industry, the number of passengers increased daily, leading to an expansion of passenger and freight services. The station was later rebuilt into a cement station building. The platforms and embankment at Shuangxi Station are elevated, and the section of track between Shuangxi and Mudan Station is a steep slope with a gradient of 1:16, known among railway enthusiasts as "Mudan Slope." In the narrow area from Shuangxi Station to the banks of Mudan Creek, a more vibrant commercial area has developed, distinct from the older streets, making it the busiest area in Shuangxi today. The walk from the station to the riverside is only about 100 meters, where one can see the unique architectural styles characteristic of the northeastern mountainous region.
