Shuangxi Ferry Terminal Introduction
Shuangxi Ferry Terminal is located at the end of Chang'an Street, offering a view where Pinglin Creek and Mudan Creek converge. During the Qing Dynasty, it was an important checkpoint on the Dalan Ancient Trail, benefiting from water transport, which brought endless prosperity to the town of Shuangxi at that time. However, with the construction of railways and highways, the ferry terminal gradually declined, leaving only the century-old stone houses as witnesses to its former glory. In the past, Shuangxi Ferry Terminal served as a cargo transfer station for the Dalan Ancient Trail, where bulk goods and passenger boats traveled down Shuangxi to the old port, Jiushe, and then transferred to sailing ships to various places. The return journey utilized smaller boats to transport daily necessities upstream back to Shuangxi. Due to its advantageous location, Shuangxi became a bustling town filled with businesses. At its peak, Chang'an Street boasted various shops, including theaters, traditional Chinese medicine shops, rice stores, fabric shops, and even hotels and shoe stores. Although the former prosperity is no longer present, the area has gained a sense of tranquility of a mountain town, making it suitable for travelers to explore the alleys, take photos, and enjoy the scenery.
