Shuangxi Ferry Head Introduction
Shuangxi Ferry Terminal is located at the end of Chang'an Street, boasting the scenic confluence of Pinglin Creek and Mudan Creek. During the Qing Dynasty, it served as an important checkpoint along the Dalan Ancient Trail, benefiting from transportation by boat and bringing endless prosperity to the then-bustling Shuangxi township. However, with the construction of railways and highways, the ferry terminal gradually declined, leaving only the century-old stone houses standing as witnesses to its past glory. In the old days, Shuangxi Ferry Terminal was a cargo transfer station along the Dalan Ancient Trail, where large quantities of goods and passenger boats were transported along Shuangxi to the old port at Jiushe, and then transferred to sailing ships for distribution to various locations. On the return trip, small boats carried daily necessities upstream to the upper reaches of Shuangxi. The ferry terminal on Chang'an Old Street, due to its geographic advantage, made Shuangxi a bustling town filled with shops. At its peak, Chang'an Street boasted various shops, including theaters, traditional Chinese medicine stores, rice shops, fabric shops, and even hotels and shoe stores. Although the former prosperity is no longer present, the area now exudes a tranquil charm typical of a mountain town, making it a perfect spot for travelers to wander through narrow alleys, take photographs, and enjoy the scenery.
