Guihou Fishing Port Introduction
Guihou was originally a humble and peaceful fishing village in the Wanli District of New Taipei City, where residents primarily relied on fishing for their livelihood. Fishermen would directly unload and auction their catch at the harbor, gradually turning Guihou Fishing Port into a fish market. The buildings here are beautifully painted, and the sea is remarkably blue and clear. The main products sold are fresh seafood, managed by local fishermen from Wanli who practice self-production and self-marketing, offering high-quality goods at reasonable prices, along with a cooking service for customers at the market. Wanli Crab is a seafood marketing brand from Taiwan, referring to crabs caught in the Wanli District of New Taipei City, which accounts for over 80% of Taiwan's crab catch. In August 2012, the New Taipei City Government established the "Wanli Crab" brand, which includes three major types of crabs: blue crabs (Callinectes sapidus), red claw crabs (Triantha ornata), and rock crabs (Thalamita crenata). Fishermen in Wanli have a custom of using fluorescent green three-strand ropes to tie up the crabs, which has become a defining feature of Wanli Crab. From September to November, during the autumn season, the nearby fisherman’s market at Guihou Fishing Port attracts crowds eager to purchase delicious Wanli Crab. Today, Guihou Fishing Port has gained fame due to Wanli Crab and has become one of the busiest fishing ports on the North Coast. A must-try dish here is the classic steamed Wanli Crab, prepared without any seasonings, allowing the fresh taste of the ocean to resonate in the crab meat, making it a superb delicacy that can be enjoyed simply by steaming!
