Guihou Fishing Port Introduction
Guihou was originally a quaint and tranquil fishing village in New Taipei City's Wanli District, where residents primarily made their living through fishing. Fishermen would directly unload and auction their catches next to the fishing port, gradually turning Guihou Fishing Port into a fish market. The buildings here are beautifully painted, and the sea is exceptionally blue and clear. The main sales are fresh seafood products operated by local fishers from Wanli, who practice self-cultivation and self-marketing, offering high-quality products at reasonable prices, and the market provides cooking services for customers. Wanli Crab is a seafood marketing brand from Taiwan, referring to crabs caught in Wanli District, New Taipei City. This area accounts for over 80% of Taiwan's crab catch, which led to the establishment of the "Wanli Crab" brand by the New Taipei City government in August 2012. Wanli Crab includes three major types of crabs: Green Crab (Portunus sanguinolentus), Three-spot Crab (Portunus trituberculatus), and Rock Crab (Varuna litterata, Philyra migratoria). Fishermen in Wanli have a customary practice of using fluorescent green three-strand ropes to tie up the crabs, which has become a notable characteristic of Wanli Crab. From September to November during the autumn season, the fishermen's market near Guihou Fishing Port attracts crowds eager to purchase delicious Wanli Crabs. Today, Guihou Fishing Port has gained fame due to Wanli Crab and has become one of the busiest fishing ports on the northern coastline. A must-try dish here is the classic Steamed Wanli Crab, which is prepared without any seasonings to retain the ocean's fresh flavor in the crab meat, offering an exquisite taste that can be experienced through simple steaming!
