Jing Tong Sky Lantern Museum Introduction
The uniquely designed Jing Tong Electronic Lantern Gallery is a landmark of Jing Tong Village, featuring architectural characteristics that combine the culture of Pingxi sky lanterns, cleverly integrating with the local landscape and skyline. Its distinctive appearance always catches the eye of travelers at first glance. As night falls, a splendid light show is presented, bringing lively colors to this serene mountain town, standing like a blessing lantern at the end of Jing Tong Old Street, gently illuminating and wishing for Pingxi. Entering Pingxi along Provincial Highway 106 from the direction of Muzha and Shiding, this Jing Tong Village is the first landmark seen by travelers. The Jing Tong Electronic Lantern Gallery is composed of a 9-meter high glass curtain and nearly 150,000 LEDs. The first floor has public restrooms, the second floor features a tourist service counter and a light meal shop, and the third floor has a panoramic platform for a sweeping view of the surrounding scenery. During business days, from 4 PM to 7 PM, the light show is held every hour, introducing the origins of sky lanterns and local specialties of Pingxi, offering customized "LED wishing lanterns." Visitors can write or stick their blessings and photos on a sky lantern postcard, then go to the plaza to watch their wishes rise into the air on the lantern, providing a distinctly different experience from releasing traditional sky lanterns. The completed postcards can also be taken home as souvenirs.
