Jingtong Lantern Museum Introduction
The uniquely shaped Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum is a landmark of Jing Tong Township. Its architectural features combine the cultural significance of the Pingxi sky lanterns, skillfully integrating with the local landscape and skyline. The distinctive appearance always captures the attention of travelers at first glance. As night falls, a dazzling light show is presented, bringing vibrant colors to this tranquil mountain town, resembling a sky lantern of blessings standing at the end of Jing Tong Old Street, subtly illuminating Pingxi with its glow. Entering Pingxi along Highway 106 from Muzha Shiding, the Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum is the first landmark travelers will see in this quaint town. The museum consists of a 9-meter-high glass curtain and nearly 150,000 LED lights. The first floor features public restrooms, the second floor has a service desk for travelers and a light meal shop, while the third floor offers a viewing platform for an unobstructed view of the surrounding scenery. The Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum showcases a light show at every hour from 4 PM to 7 PM on operating days. In addition to introducing the origin of sky lanterns and local Pingxi characteristics, it offers a customized "LED Wishing Lantern." Visitors can write or stick their blessings and photos on a sky lantern postcard, and witness their wishes ascend with the lantern in the square, creating a distinctly different experience from traditional sky lanterns. The completed postcards can also be taken home as souvenirs.
