Jingtong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum Introduction
The uniquely shaped Jingtong Electronic Lantern Museum is a landmark of Jingtong Township. The architectural features combine the culture of Pingxi Sky Lanterns, skillfully integrating with the local landscape and skyline. Its distinctive appearance always captures the attention of travelers at first glance. When night falls, a splendid light show is presented, bringing lively brilliance to this tranquil mountain town, like a sky lantern of祈福 standing at the end of Jingtong Old Street, softly shining and blessing Pingxi. Entering Pingxi from the direction of Muzha and Shiding along Route 106, the Jingtong Electronic Lantern Museum is the first landmark that travelers see in this quaint town. The museum consists of a 9-meter-high glass curtain and nearly 150,000 LED lights. The first floor features public restrooms, the second floor includes a tourist information counter and a light meal shop, while the third floor offers a viewing platform with a panoramic view of the surrounding scenery. From 4 PM to 7 PM on business days, the light show takes place every hour. In addition to introducing the origins of sky lanterns and local characteristics of Pingxi, the museum provides a customizable "LED Wishing Lantern". Visitors can write or paste their blessings and photos on sky lantern postcards, and then see their wishes ascend into the sky at the plaza, offering a distinctly different experience compared to traditional sky lanterns. The completed postcards can also be taken home as souvenirs.
