Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum Introduction
The uniquely shaped Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum is a landmark of Jing Tong Township. The architectural features combine the culture of Pingxi sky lanterns, cleverly integrating with the local landscape and skyline. Its distinctive appearance always captures the attention of travelers at first glance. When night falls, a dazzling light show begins, bringing vibrant colors to this tranquil mountain town, resembling a sky lantern of blessings standing at the end of Jing Tong Old Street, softly illuminating and wishing for Pingxi. Entering Pingxi along Highway 106 from the direction of Muzha and Shiding, the Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum is the first landmark travelers see in this township. The museum is composed of a 9-meter-high glass curtain and nearly 150,000 LEDs. The first floor has public restrooms, the second floor features a service counter and light snacks, while the third floor offers a viewing platform for panoramic views of the surroundings. During business days, from 4 PM to 7 PM, on the hour, a light show is presented, which introduces the origins of sky lanterns and local characteristics of Pingxi. It also offers customized "LED wishing sky lanterns," allowing visitors to write or paste their blessings and photos on sky lantern postcards and release them into the square to see their wishes rise into the sky, providing a distinctly different experience from traditional sky lanterns. The completed postcards can also be taken home as souvenirs.
