Jingtong Sky Lantern Museum Introduction
The uniquely shaped Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Pavilion is a landmark of Jing Tong Township, featuring architectural characteristics that incorporate the culture of Pingxi Sky Lanterns, cleverly blending with the local landscape and skyline. Its distinctive appearance always captures the eyes of travelers at first glance. As night falls, a stunning light show is displayed, bringing vibrant colors to this tranquil mountain town, resembling a wishing lantern standing at the end of Jing Tong Old Street, gently illuminating and blessing Pingxi. Entering Pingxi along Provincial Highway 106 from the direction of Muzha and Shiding, this Jing Tong Township is the first landmark travelers encounter. The Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Pavilion is composed of a 9-meter-high glass curtain and nearly 150,000 LEDs. The first floor has public restrooms, the second floor features a customer service counter and light meal shops, while the third floor has a viewing platform that offers a panoramic view of the surroundings. On operating days, from 4 PM to 7 PM, every hour on the hour, the light show is played, introducing the origins of sky lanterns and local specialties of Pingxi. It also offers a customizable "LED Wishing Lantern," allowing visitors to write or paste their blessings and photos on lantern postcards, and see their wishes rise into the air on the main body of the lantern in the square, providing an experience entirely different from traditional sky lanterns. The completed postcards can also be taken home as souvenirs.
