Jingtong Sky Lantern Museum Introduction
The uniquely shaped Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum is a landmark of Jing Tong Township, featuring architectural characteristics that blend the culture of Pingxi sky lanterns with the local landscape and skyline. Its distinctive exterior always catches the eye of travelers at first glance. When night falls, a dazzling light show is presented, bringing lively colors to this tranquil mountain town, standing like a blessing sky lantern at the end of Jing Tong Old Street, softly illuminating and blessing Pingxi. Entering Pingxi along Provincial Highway 106 from the direction of Muzha and Shiding, the Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum is the first landmark travelers encounter. The museum is composed of a 9-meter-high glass curtain and nearly 150,000 LEDs. The first floor features public restrooms, the second floor houses the visitor service desk and light meal vendors, and the third floor has a scenic platform offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The Jing Tong Electronic Sky Lantern Museum presents a light show every hour from 4 PM to 7 PM on operating days, introducing the origin of sky lanterns and Pingxi's local characteristics. It also offers customizable "LED Wish Lanterns," allowing visitors to write or attach their blessings and photos on sky lantern postcards. They can then head to the plaza to watch their wishes ascend into the sky lantern structure, providing a distinctly different experience compared to traditional sky lanterns. The completed postcards can be kept as souvenirs.
