The partnership between Guangsan Construction and Japan's SOGO was formally signed on March 12, 1992, initiating the store's planning and development. The department store was financed by Guangsan Construction, with renowned architects involved in the careful design. Groundbreaking took place on June 19, 1993, and the grand opening was held on November 11, 1995. Exclusive music clocks were introduced, where adorable dolls from around the world sing lively songs at the top of every hour to welcome all guests at Guangsan SOGO. Many parents also bring their children to the main entrance on the first floor to enjoy the joyful moments provided by the cute dolls from the music clock.
