Jingming First Street Introduction
Jingming First Street is located between Dadu 19th Street and Dalong Road, spanning approximately a hundred meters. The street features beautiful walkways, elegant signage, and bright display windows. Along the pedestrian area are boutique clothing stores, tea houses, cafes, international restaurants, and galleries. Outdoor seating is provided on the sidewalks, and during holidays, open-air concerts and art exhibitions are often held, resembling a miniature version of the Champs-Élysées in France. It is a street that combines shopping, leisure, and art. The early-entering shops, realizing the excellent landscape conditions of this street, aimed to create a cultural street common in Europe that is pedestrian-friendly. After numerous negotiations, with all shops agreeing, a resident agreement was established to prohibit motorcycles from entering the street. The shopkeepers set up many outdoor cafes and resting benches for pedestrians. Furthermore, designated personnel managed street vendors and planned activities and landscape designs. Through the collective effort of the owners along the shopping street, it was selected in 1995 as a demonstration shopping street in Taiwan, gaining fame and becoming a well-known attraction in Taichung. In 2023, Jingming First Street was also featured in the film "The Silent Sea," which won the Best Action Design at the 60th Golden Horse Awards, making it a pilgrimage site for film fans. In the busy urban life, everyone aspires to have a place to unwind, and Jingming First Street provides an artistic street amidst the urban jungle. One can enjoy sitting in an outdoor cafe, sipping a rich cup of coffee while watching the bustling crowd, creating a unique charm of life. The various colored parasols complement different tables, giving a feel reminiscent of Paris's Champs-Élysées. The cultural activities here are vibrant, frequently hosting poetry exhibitions, installation art displays, concerts, and parades, plus unanticipated performances by street artists that add vitality to Jingming First Street, offering another kind of emotional space beyond consumer culture.
