Jing Ming Street Introduction
Jingming 1st Street is located between Dadu 19th Street and Dalong Road, spanning approximately 100 meters. The street features beautiful walkways, elegant signage, and bright display windows. On both sides of the pedestrian area, there are boutique clothing stores, tea and coffee shops, exotic restaurants, galleries, and more. The sidewalks are equipped with outdoor seating, and community events such as outdoor concerts and cultural exhibitions are often held during holidays, resembling a miniature of the Champs-Élysées in France. This street combines shopping, leisure, and art. The dozen or so shops that moved in earlier recognized the excellent landscape conditions and hoped to create a pedestrian-oriented cultural street typical of Europe. After several agreements and with the consensus of all shops, they began enacting a residential covenant to prohibit motorcycles from entering the street. The shop owners also established numerous outdoor café seats and benches for pedestrians to rest. Restrictions were put in place for vendors, and activities and landscaping were planned by dedicated personnel. Thanks to the collective efforts of the property owners along this shopping street, it was selected as the model shopping street in Taiwan in 1995, gaining fame and becoming a well-known attraction in Taichung. Recently, the street served as a filming location for the award-winning film "The Abandoned" which won the Best Action Design at the 60th Golden Horse Awards, turning it into a pilgrimage site for fans. In the busy urban life, everyone longs for a place to relax, and Jingming 1st Street offers an artistic avenue amid the urban jungle. Here, you can enjoy sitting in an outdoor café savoring a rich cup of coffee while watching the bustling crowd, which adds a unique charm to life. With colorful umbrellas and a variety of tables, it feels reminiscent of the Champs-Élysées in Paris. The artistic and cultural activities in this area are thriving, with frequent poetry exhibitions, installation art shows, concerts, and parades, complemented by unexpected performances from street artists, making Jingming 1st Street vibrant and enjoyable beyond just commercial culture.
