Jingming First Street Introduction
Jingming First Street is located between Dadu 19th Street and Dalong Road, extending approximately 100 meters. The street features beautiful walkways, elegant signage, and bright shop windows. Along the pedestrian area, there are boutique clothing stores, tea and coffee shops, international cuisine restaurants, galleries, and more. The sidewalk is equipped with outdoor seating, and community activities such as open-air concerts and cultural exhibitions are often held on holidays, resembling a miniature version of the Champs-Élysées in France. This street blends shopping, leisure, and art together. Several early businesses recognized the excellent landscape conditions of this street and aspired to create a cultural street commonly found in Europe dedicated to pedestrian strolls. After several negotiations, and with the agreement of all shops, a residential covenant was enacted to prohibit motorcycles from entering the street, allowing store owners to set up many outdoor café seats and benches for pedestrians to rest. Additionally, specialized personnel managed street vendors and planned events and landscape designs. Thanks to the collective efforts of the property owners along the shopping street, it was selected as a model shopping street in Taiwan in 1995, gaining fame as one of Taichung's prominent attractions. In 2023, the street was featured in the Taiwanese film "The Knight of Fowl," which won the "Best Action Design" at the 60th Golden Horse Awards, turning Jingming First Street into a pilgrimage site for film fans. Within the hustle and bustle of urban life, everyone yearns for a getaway, and Jingming First Street serves as an artistic avenue nestled in the urban jungle, allowing visitors to enjoy a cup of rich coffee in an outdoor café while watching the crowd, embodying a unique lifestyle charm. The colorful umbrellas paired with various tables provide a feeling akin to being on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. The cultural activities here thrive with frequent poetry exhibitions, installation art shows, concerts, and parades, enhanced further by spontaneous performances from street artists, making Jingming First Street a vibrant space that offers an emotional experience beyond consumer culture.
