Jingming First Street Introduction
Jingming 1st Street is located between Dadu 19th Street and Dalong Road. The entire street is approximately 100 meters long, featuring beautiful walkways, elegant signage, and bright display windows. On either side of the pedestrian zone, there are boutique clothing stores, tea and coffee shops, international restaurants, and galleries. The sidewalks are equipped with outdoor seating, and community activities such as outdoor concerts and art exhibitions are frequently held on holidays, making it a microcosm of the Champs-Élysées in France, a street that combines shopping, leisure, and art. Initially, a dozen shops that opened early recognized the excellent scenic conditions of this street and hoped to create a cultural street that is pedestrian-friendly, similar to those commonly found in Europe. After several agreements, and with the consent of all shops, they began to prohibit motorcycles from entering the street through a resident covenant. Many outdoor cafés and benches for pedestrians to rest were established by the shop owners; there were also designated individuals to manage mobile vendors and plan activities and landscape designs. Thanks to the collective efforts of all the shop owners, it was selected as the Demonstration Shopping Street of Taiwan in 1995, gaining popularity and becoming a famous attraction in Taichung. In 2023, Jingming 1st Street was featured in the action film "Zhou Chu Eliminates Three Harmful Creatures," which won the "Best Action Design" at the 60th Golden Horse Awards, further establishing it as a leisure destination for film fans. In the hustle and bustle of urban life, everyone longs for a place to take a break, and Jingming 1st Street is an artistic street nestled within the urban jungle. Here, one can enjoy a rich cup of coffee while seated in an outdoor café, watching the flow of crowds, creating a unique lifestyle charm. Colorful umbrellas and various tables evoke a feeling reminiscent of the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Cultural activities in this area are vibrant, with frequent poetry exhibitions, installation art displays, concerts, and parades, along with spontaneous performances by street artists adding to the vitality of Jingming 1st Street, providing an emotional space beyond consumer culture.
