Taiwan Sun Cake Museum Introduction
The Taiwan Sun Cake Museum inherits the authentic flavors of the Sun Cake creator, Master Wei Qinghai, passed down through three generations. It combines various aspects such as art exhibitions, interactive audio-visuals, discussion forums, and light dining, offering the public a completely different new experience. The Sun Cake cultural relics display includes "cake molds" (also known as "rice cake molds"), which are models used in early cake-making, rice cake production, and pastry creation. During festive seasons, households would make and distribute pastries containing auspicious and peaceful symbols to share joy with neighbors. The cake molds represent not only baking tools but also reflect the early lifestyles and food culture of the people. We welcome you to Chuan An Tang to explore the traces of our ancestors' lives through these molds. Chuan An Tang Sun Cakes are a fine craft inherited directly from the inventor of the Sun Cake, Master Wei Qinghai (Ah Ming), and over three generations, Chuan An Tang has not only preserved the traditional authentic flavors but has also enhanced its techniques. The Taiwan Sun Cake Museum is housed in the building of "Chuan An Tang," a well-preserved centennial architecture established during the Japanese occupation, still showcasing its elegance. The early Chuan An Tang space was used as a pharmacy, selling imported medicines and daily necessities; today, through the efforts of a professional design team, the old building has regained its brilliance while cleverly integrating the traditional industry characteristics of Taichung. The rich historical pastry culture and this century-old heritage spark awe and inspiration. The light food area of the old space is located on the 2nd floor in the café, decorated in a fragrant autumn green tone and complemented with natural wood materials, creating a comfortable and relaxing dining atmosphere. The café mainly sells light meals, whether it's a healthy fresh chicken salad or authentic Indian curry, you can enjoy delightful flavors here! The Sun Cake Museum, built in 1909, is a precious historical monument that has walked through a century. Within this old building, we hope to develop more diverse applications to give it new value, which is why we have added cultural and artistic performance programs, allowing art to blend with life and providing fresh artists a space to present their works. We welcome your exhibition applications and visits.
