The Taiwan Sun Cake Museum is located in the building known as "Chuanan Hall," a well-preserved century-old structure that has stood since the Japanese colonial period, still retaining its charm. In its early days, Chuanan Hall was used as a pharmacy selling imported medicines and daily necessities. Today, after being revitalized by a professional design team, the old building shines once more, cleverly integrating the characteristics of Taichung's traditional industries, creating a stunning spark between the historical pastry culture and the century-old heritage.

Taiwan Sun Cake Museum Introduction

The Taiwan Sun Cake Museum inherits the authentic flavors of the Sun Cake created by Master Wei Qing-hai through three generations of craftsmanship. It combines various aspects such as art and cultural exhibitions, interactive audiovisual displays, discussion forums, and light meals, providing visitors with a completely different experience. The exhibits, known as cake molds (or cake prints), are models used in the early days of making cakes and pastries. During festivals and seasonal celebrations, families would make pastries containing auspicious and peaceful symbols to share with neighbors, spreading joy together. Cake molds represent not just baking tools but also reflect the early lifestyle and food culture of the people. You are welcome to visit Quan'an Hall and explore the traces of our ancestors' lives through the cake molds. The Sun Cakes from Quan'an Hall are a direct inheritance of the artisanal skills passed down from the inventor, Master Wei Qing-hai (Ah Ming Shi), over three generations. Quan'an Hall not only preserves the traditional, authentic old flavors, but the skills have also become more refined. The Taiwain Sun Cake Museum is housed in a building known as "Quan'an Hall," a well-preserved century-old structure that has stood since the Japanese colonial period, maintaining its charm. The early Quan'an Hall was used as a pharmacy, selling imported medicines and daily necessities; today, with the reconstruction by a professional design team, the old building shines anew and cleverly integrates the characteristics of Taichung's traditional industries, creating a stunning spark between the historical pastry culture and the century-old heritage. The light meal area is located on the 2nd floor of the old space's restaurant, featuring an autumn green theme combined with wooden materials, creating a comfortable and relaxing dining environment. The restaurant mainly offers light meals, where you can enjoy mouthwatering dishes like fresh chicken salad or authentic Indian curry! The Sun Cake Museum was established in 1909 and is a precious historical monument with over a century of legacy. Within the old building, we hope to develop more diverse applications to give it new value. For this purpose, we have added cultural and artistic performance activities, allowing art to blend with daily life and providing innovative artists with a space to showcase their work. We welcome your exhibition applications and visits. Guided tours: ■ Yes □ No ■ Reservation required.
