Taiwan Sun Cake Museum Introduction
The Taiwan Sun Cake Museum inherits the authentic taste of the Sun Cake inventor Master Wei Qinghai's craftsmanship across three generations, combining art exhibitions, interactive multimedia, discussion forums, and light dining, providing the public with a completely different and new experience. The Sun Cake cultural relics on display include cake molds (also known as cake stamps), which were early models used for making cakes, rice cakes, and pastries. During festivals and celebrations, households would make traditional pastries containing auspicious and peaceful symbols to share with neighbors, spreading happiness together. The cake stamps represent not just baking tools but also reflect the lifestyle and dietary culture of early people. We invite you to visit the Chuan An Tang and explore the traces of our ancestors' lives through these cake molds. Chuan An Tang Sun Cakes are a direct inheritance of the skills from the inventor of Sun Cakes — Mr. Wei Qinghai (Amin Master). After three generations of evolution, Chuan An Tang not only preserves the authentic traditional flavors but also masters the techniques further. The building of the Taiwan Sun Cake Museum is "Chuan An Tang," a well-preserved century-old building that has stood since the Japanese colonial period and still retains its charm. Originally, the Chuan An Tang space was used as a pharmacy selling imported medicines and daily necessities; today, through the creative efforts of a professional design team, the old building has been revitalized, cleverly integrating the local traditional industry characteristics of Taichung, creating a wonderful spark between the historically rich pastry culture and the century-old heritage. The light dining area of the old space is located on the second floor, featuring an autumn green theme complemented by wooden materials, creating a comfortable and relaxing dining atmosphere. The restaurant mainly sells light meals, whether it's a healthy and fresh chicken salad or authentic Indian curry, you can savor delicious offerings here! The old space exhibition in the Sun Cake Museum, established in 1909, is a precious historical monument that has stood the test of time. Within the old building, we hope to develop more diverse applications to give it new value. Therefore, we have added cultural and artistic exhibition plans, allowing art to blend with life and providing emerging artists with a space to present their performances. We welcome your exhibition applications and visits.
