Green Rail Trail 1908 Introduction
Taichung Station has a history of over a hundred years since its complete opening in 1908. After being transformed into an elevated railway, the original railway has been converted into a green corridor. The green corridor stretches 21.7 kilometers from Daqing Station to Fengyuan Station, with the green railway being one segment that extends 1.6 kilometers north and south from Taichung Station. This elevated garden, renovated from the old railway, preserves the historical and cultural heritage of the railway while connecting railway cultural parks, historical sites, and station business districts. Walking along the path above, you can overlook the Green River and the old railway tracks from a different perspective. The multi-layered landscape arrangement allows for a unique view of Taichung, and there are many sculptural corridors along the trail that document the memories of the old railway over the past century. The unique local landscape design has also received numerous awards both domestically and internationally.
