Green Rail Trail 1908 Introduction
Taichung Station has a history of over a century since the full line was opened in 1908. After being transformed into an elevated railway, the original railway has turned into a green corridor. This green corridor stretches 21.7 kilometers from Daqing Station to Fengyuan Station, with a 1.6-kilometer section known as the Green Rail Trail extending north and south from Taichung Station. The elevated garden, remodeled from the old railway, preserves the historical and cultural heritage of the railways, connecting the Railway Cultural Park, historical sites, and station commercial areas. Walking along the trail, you can overlook the Green River and the old railway tracks from above. The multi-level landscape arrangement allows you to see Taichung from a different perspective, and along the path, there are many carved corridors that document the memories of the old railway over the past century. The unique local landscape design has also won many awards both domestically and internationally.
