Green Rail Trail 1908 Introduction
Taichung Station has a history of over a century since the entire line was completed in 1908. After being transformed into an elevated railway, the original railway has been converted into a green corridor. This green corridor stretches 21.7 kilometers from Daqing Station to Fengyuan Station, with the green railway being a segment that extends 1.6 kilometers north and south from Taichung Station. The aerial garden, renovated from the old railway, preserves the cultural heritage of the railway and connects various railway cultural parks, historical sites, and station business districts. Walking along the path from above, you can overlook the Qing River and the old railway tracks, with a multi-layered landscape arrangement that allows you to view Taichung from a different perspective. Along the trail, there are many sculptural corridors that record memories of the old railway over the past century, and the unique local landscape design has received numerous awards both domestically and internationally.
