Greenway Rail 1908 Introduction
Taichung Station has a history of over a century since its full operation began in 1908. After being transformed into an elevated railway, the original railway has been converted into a green corridor. The green corridor stretches 21.7 kilometers from Daqing Station to Fengyuan Station, with the green railway being a segment of it, extending 1.6 kilometers north and south from Taichung Station. This elevated garden, remodeled from the old railway, preserves the cultural heritage of the railway while connecting the Railway Cultural Park, historical sites, and the station commercial district. Walking along this path, you can overlook the green river and the old railway tracks from above, experiencing Taichung from a different perspective thanks to the multi-layered landscape arrangement. Along the trail, numerous sculptural corridors commemorate the memories of the old railway over the past century, and the unique local landscape design has received many domestic and international awards.
