Taichung Station has a history of over a hundred years since the full opening of the railway line in 1908. After being transformed into an elevated railway, the original railway was converted into a green corridor. The green corridor stretches 21.7 kilometers from Daqing Station to Fengyuan Station, with the Green Rail Trail being one segment that extends 1.6 kilometers northward and southward from Taichung Station. This elevated garden, renovated from the old railway, preserves railway historical and cultural heritage, connecting the Railway Cultural Park, historical sites, and the station business district. Walking along the trail, you can overlook the Green River and the old railway tracks from above, with multi-layered landscape arrangements offering a different perspective of Taichung. Along the path, there are many sculpted corridors that record the memories of the old railway over the past century. The unique local landscape design has also received numerous domestic and international awards for its recognition.
