Qingguang Street Commercial District Introduction
Jiguang Street is a commercial street that belongs to the early development of Taichung City. This area was known as "Rong Town" during the Japanese colonial period. Before the recovery of Taiwan, it was primarily a livelihood commercial area with cloth shops, dining establishments, watch shops, and grocery stores. From the Japanese era to the early post-war period, it was one of the busiest streets in Taichung City. Jiguang Street is one of the thematic commercial streets in the commercial district of the Central District of Taichung City, formed by Jiguang Street, Luchuan West Street, Taiwan Boulevard, and the adjacent Liberty Road commercial area. The pedestrian street project on Jiguang Street has been completed, with the main goal of connecting the surrounding railway station, Zhongshan Park, Electronic Street, and Luchuan East and West Streets, continuing the new urban design. To address the issues of crowded pedestrian flows and complex street structures, overall environmental optimization and district integration have been implemented to enhance shopping comfort and commercial attractiveness. Jiguang Street was the most prosperous commercial area at the time and is a memory for the older generation of Taichung. As times change, it has evolved into a diverse business environment, showcasing the vibrant vitality of the commercial district. Another feature is the food scene, where you can taste different delicacies and satisfy your taste buds all at once; visiting here absolutely guarantees a full experience of food, drink, and fun.
