Asa Statue Introduction
"Ner'zhul" is one of the protagonists in the computer game series "Warcraft," published by Blizzard Entertainment, and is also one of the beloved heroes in "Heroes of the Storm." The dramatic choices he makes to protect his people have made his life a captivating story cherished by many players, establishing him as one of the most popular and high-profile characters in the "Warcraft" series. On the day of Arthas Menethil's birth, the forests of Lordaeron whispered his name, destined to write a legendary tale that would send ripples through all of Azeroth. In 2016, to celebrate Blizzard Entertainment's 25th anniversary, a statue of Arthas (4.6 meters long, 2.1 meters wide, a total height of 4.5 meters including the base, and weighing 1,814 kilograms) was installed in Taiwan to give back to Taiwanese and Asian players. It is also Blizzard Entertainment's first outdoor public art installation. The designer, Steve Wang, is a Hollywood special effects designer and filmmaker who was born in Taipei and immigrated to the United States at the age of nine. This grand project involved 30 staff members and took over a thousand hours (more than nine months) to complete. The exquisite technique and meticulous design make Arthas stand lifelike and imposing at the Calligraphy Greenway, creating a unique cultural landmark for citizens and tourists. The Arthas statue is located in the southern section of the Calligraphy Greenway, forming a more complete and coherent cultural and artistic atmosphere from the National Museum of Natural Science in the north to the Art Park in the south. It provides international tourists with a distinctly different travel experience, deeply promoting local cultural features, while Taichung actively connects with global trends, shaping a new landscape that embodies Eastern roots and Western colors.
