Asa's Statue Introduction
"Arthas" is one of the main characters in the computer game series "Warcraft" published by Blizzard Entertainment, and he is also one of the most beloved heroes in "Heroes of the Storm." In the story, his difficult choices made to protect the people imbue his dramatic life with great appeal to many players, making him one of the most popular and high-profile characters in the "Warcraft" series. On the day of Arthas Menethil's birth, the entire forest of Lordaeron whispered his name, and he was destined to write a legendary page filled with fervor that would stir the hearts of all beings in Azeroth. In 2016, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Blizzard Entertainment, a statue of Arthas (4.6 meters long, 2.1 meters wide, 4.5 meters tall including the base, and weighing 1,814 kilograms) was created and placed in Taiwan to give back to players in Taiwan and Asia. This statue is also Blizzard Entertainment's first outdoor installation art piece open to the public. The designer, Steve Wang, is a Hollywood effects artist and filmmaker who was born in Taipei and immigrated to the United States at the age of nine. This monumental project involved 30 staff members and took over a thousand hours (more than nine months) to complete. The exquisite craftsmanship and meticulous design bring Arthas to life, majestically standing on Calligraphy Greenway, creating a unique cultural landmark for citizens and tourists. The Arthas statue is located in the southern section of Calligraphy Greenway, forming a more complete and cohesive cultural and artistic atmosphere from the National Museum of Natural Science in the north to the Fine Arts Park in the south. It offers international tourists a different travel experience, deeply promoting and showcasing local cultural characteristics while Taichung actively connects with global contexts, shaping a new appearance rich in Eastern essence and Western flair.
