Assassin Statue Introduction
Arthas is one of the main characters in the computer game series "Warcraft" published by Blizzard Entertainment, and he is also one of the beloved heroes in "Heroes of the Storm." In the story, the difficult choices he makes to protect his people give his dramatic life a depth that many players admire. He is one of the most popular characters in the "Warcraft" series. On the day of Arthas Menethil’s birth, the forests of Lordaeron whispered his name, and he was destined to write a legendary chapter that would create enormous waves felt by all living beings in Azeroth. In 2016, in celebration of Blizzard Entertainment's 25th anniversary, a statue of Arthas (4.6 meters long, 2.1 meters wide, 4.5 meters tall including the base, and weighing 1,814 kilograms) was installed in Taiwan to give back to Taiwanese and Asian players, marking Blizzard's first outdoor art installation open to the public. The designer, Steve Wang, is a special effects artist and filmmaker from Hollywood, born in Taipei and moved to the United States at the age of nine. This extensive project involved 30 staff members and took over a thousand hours (more than nine months) to complete. The exquisite craftsmanship and intricate design bring Arthas to life, standing majestically in Calligraphy Greenway, creating a unique cultural landmark for citizens and tourists. The Arthas statue is located in the southern section of Calligraphy Greenway, enhancing the urban landscape from the National Museum of Natural Science in the north to the Art Garden Path in the south, completing a more coherent cultural and artistic atmosphere. It provides international tourists with a different travel experience, deeply promoting local cultural characteristics while Taichung actively connects with the global context, shaping a new appearance that contains Eastern essence and Western colors.
