Ahasuerus Statue Introduction
Arthas is one of the protagonists in the computer game series "Warcraft," published by Blizzard Entertainment, and is also one of the beloved heroes in "Heroes of the Storm." His story, marked by the difficult choices he makes to protect his people, adds dramatic tension to his life, making him a favorite among many players and one of the most popular characters in the "Warcraft" series. On the day of Arthas Menethil's birth, the entire forest of Lordaeron whispered his name, and he was destined to write a legendary chapter that would send monumental waves throughout Azeroth. In 2016, coinciding with Blizzard Entertainment's 25th anniversary, a statue of Arthas was specially created (4.6 meters long, 2.1 meters wide, standing 4.5 meters tall with the base, and weighing 1,814 kilograms) and placed in Taiwan as a gift to Taiwanese and Asian players. This is also the first outdoor sculpture created by Blizzard Entertainment that is open to the public. The designer, Steve Wang, is a Hollywood special effects artist and filmmaker who was born in Taipei and immigrated to the United States at the age of nine. This grand project involved 30 staff members and took over a thousand hours (more than nine months) to complete. The exquisite craftsmanship and meticulous design make Arthas appear vividly and impressively as he stands in Calligraphy Greenway, creating a unique cultural landmark for citizens and tourists. The Arthas statue is located in the southern section of Calligraphy Greenway, contributing to the urban landscape that stretches from the National Museum of Natural Science to the Calligraphy Art Park, thus outlining a more complete and coherent cultural and artistic atmosphere. It offers international tourists a distinct travel experience, promoting local cultural features while Taichung actively connects with global contexts, shaping a new image enriched with Eastern depth and Western hues.
