Taichung Cultural Center Introduction
Taichung City is renowned for its cultural heritage, with a flourishing literary scene and advanced educational initiatives. The local community is dedicated to promoting cultural activities. In 1976, prominent entrepreneur Mr. Ho Yong donated a cultural center on Shuangshi Road, marking Taiwan's first cultural center. In 1979, the central government initiated 12 construction projects, subsidizing various counties and cities to establish a cultural center. Taichung chose 600 Yingcai Road for this purpose, and construction began in August of the following year, completing on November 12, 1983. Spanning an area of 16,615 square meters, it was named the "Taichung City Cultural Center." (The original Shuangshi Road Cultural Center was renamed "Wenying Hall" in 1983 and was managed by National Taiwan Sport University in 2012.) After Taichung County and City were merged and elevated to a municipality on December 25, 2010, it was renamed "Taichung City Dadu Cultural Center." On January 1, 2013, it was restructured as a unit within the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and renamed "Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government Dadu Cultural Center." The Dadu Cultural Center's management area includes Chungshan Hall, and it shares office space with the "Dadu Branch of Taichung Public Library." The facilities include 10 exhibition rooms, as well as auditoriums, audio-visual rooms, presentation rooms, meeting rooms, training classrooms, reading areas, and study rooms, making it a complex educational venue ideal for hosting various cultural promotion events, and a significant cultural hub in Taichung City.
