Taichung Cultural Center Introduction
Taichung City is renowned as a cultural city, with a flourishing literary atmosphere and advanced educational undertakings. Various sectors of society spare no effort in promoting cultural activities. In 1976, the renowned entrepreneur Mr. He Yong donated to build a cultural center on Shuangshi Road, which became the first cultural center in Taiwan. In 1979, the central government promoted 12 construction projects and subsidized each county and city to establish a cultural center. Our city chose to build one at No. 600, Yingcai Road, with construction commencing in August of the following year, and it was completed and inaugurated on November 12, 1983, covering an area of 16,615 square meters and named "Taichung City Cultural Center." (The original Shuangshi Road Cultural Center was renamed "Wenying Pavilion" in 1983 and was managed by National Taiwan Sport University in 2012.) After Taichung County and City merged and were upgraded to a municipality on December 25, 2010, it was renamed "Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center." On January 1, 2013, it was restructured and incorporated as an internal unit of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, renamed "Dadun Cultural Center of Taichung City Government's Cultural Affairs Bureau." The management area of Taichung City's Dadun Cultural Center includes Zhongshan Hall and shares office space with the "Dadun Branch of Taichung City Library." The venue houses 10 exhibition rooms, as well as a lecture hall, audiovisual room, presentation room, conference room, workshop classrooms, reading areas, and self-study rooms, making it a comprehensive educational facility suitable for various cultural and artistic promotion activities and an important cultural hub in Taichung City.
