Qinmei Eslite Green Park Trail Introduction
The building was redesigned by renowned architects Chen Rui-Hsien and Kuo Hsu-Yuan, originally an idle parking structure. After the team from Kinsmen and Eslite took over, they aimed to integrate the building with the surrounding greenery while adhering to the concept of respecting nature. After overcoming numerous challenges with the help of hundreds of experts, it was decided to extend the greenery onto the walls, creating an urban vertical garden where plants and architecture coexist. This is Taiwan's first large-scale green wall, featuring 120,000 plants that grow naturally on the facade, equipped with a 3-kilometer-long water pipeline that regularly provides moisture and nutrients. These plants can absorb 200 kilograms of carbon dioxide and release 150 kilograms of oxygen daily, while also cooling down the environment and saving energy in the summer. Experts from architecture, structure, landscape, and botany contributed to the project, which took over a year, included more than thirty revisions of designs, countless site surveys, and ecological studies. Eventually, challenges such as structure, gravity, species selection, irrigation, drainage, typhoon resistance, and earthquake resistance were overcome, successfully installing approximately 140,000 plants on the wall. To ensure the sustainable coexistence of plants and architecture, the green wall is equipped with a complete irrigation system that uses over 6,000 drip emitters, a 3-kilometer-long water pipeline, and hundreds of spray nozzles, allowing the plants to self-sustain without needing replacements, thus providing a habitat for various birds and butterflies. In addition to the exterior design, a green shopping space filled with sunlight, air, and water was created by demolishing the central prime area of the shopping center to make way for a 5-story, 20-meter high indoor green wall. A specially designed water circulation mirror pool was also constructed, featuring an aquatic stage for cultural and creative activities. The 3rd-floor Eslite Bookstore is the largest flagship store in the central region, establishing Kinsmen Eslite Green Park as a new landmark for natural culture. It not only won the 2009 National Excellent Construction Award but also represented Taiwan in receiving the "2010 Global Outstanding Architecture Award," often referred to as the Oscar of the real estate industry. The park also includes a children's museum, music hall, Eslite wine cellar, various themed restaurants, an exquisite supermarket, and a multi-functional performance hall, along with a spacious Eslite stationery store, lifestyle boutiques, and designer clothing accessories, creating an atmosphere of the latest creative fashion, perfect for friends who love boutique, creativity, and style. Additionally, it is situated near the National Museum of Natural Science, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, The Evergreen Laurel Hotel, National Hotel, Asia Hotel, and the Shihua International Building, allowing visitors to easily plan a delightful one-day trip.
