Liuchuan Riverside Walkway Introduction

During the day, Liuchuan presents a leisurely atmosphere, with clear waters where one can closely admire the koi fish, making it a perfect spot for family outings and picnics. At night, Liuchuan is filled with a romantic ambiance; walking under the sparkling lights and admiring the shimmering willows and art installations like swans makes it not only a great place for night photography but also a lovely spot for couples to take a stroll. Liuchuan is a breathing river, where the banks have been widened and transformed into gentle slopes to aid drainage and permeability. Through infiltration and evaporation, it alleviates the burden on the drainage system caused by heavy rainfall. Water catchments are set up below the riverbanks to absorb moisture, storing water for irrigation purposes, while permeable drainage pipes (HDPE pipes) are installed beneath the riverbed to adjust the water source between dry and wet seasons, creating a sponge-like space that absorbs water. To ensure water quality and ecology, the water source of Liuchuan is treated at the Zhonghua Water Purification Plant after intercepting upstream sewage, resulting in significant improvement from severely polluted to lightly polluted. In addition to transplanting 37 trees along the riverbanks, 38 new water willows have been planted to retain the character of Liuchuan, along with 159 native trees such as tassel trees, Formosan sweetgum, and wax trees, providing different scenery in the Liuchuan riverbed throughout the year.
