Liuchuan Riverside Walkway Introduction

During the day, Liuchuan presents a leisurely atmosphere, with clear water where you can admire koi fish up close, making it an ideal spot for family outings and picnics. At night, Liuchuan is filled with a romantic ambiance; walking under the sparkling lights, watching the shimmering willow trees and art installations of swans, it is not only a great place for night photography but also suitable for couples to take evening strolls. Liuchuan is a river that breathes, with its banks widened and transformed into gentle slopes, which helps with drainage and permeability. Through infiltration and evaporation, it reduces the impact of heavy rainfall on the drainage system. Additionally, water catchments are installed below the banks to absorb moisture, and stored water is reused for irrigation. Permeable drainage pipes (HDPE pipes) are set up under the riverbed to balance water sources between dry and wet seasons, creating a sponge-like elastic space that absorbs water. To maintain both water quality and ecology, the water source of Liuchuan is diverted upstream for treatment at the Taiwan Water Quality Purification Plant, resulting in significant improvement from severe to mild pollution. Along the riverbanks, 37 trees were transplanted and 38 willows were newly planted to preserve the characteristic of Liuchuan, along with 159 native trees such as silk-tassel, Taiwan native mulberry, and wax myrtle, ensuring that the river offers different scenery throughout the four seasons.
