Longmu Well Introduction
In the early Qing Dynasty, the city of Changhua was established. Due to the saline water in Changyi, this well had sweet water. The city walls were almost decided to be built here, but the local residents of Changyi were unwilling to give up and secretly poured a lot of salt into the well to obstruct it. Thus, the county city was eventually decided to be built in present-day Changhua. Longmu Well, which has now been reconstructed with cement, is no longer as it was in the past. According to the Changhua County Annals, “Longmu Well is located seventeen li north of the city center, with its spring bubbling several feet high, resembling a spray of jade flowers. The fields below the mountain, several acres, are irrigated by this spring. The water is green in color and sweet in taste, and many locals come to fetch it. There are two stones nearby that resemble dragon eyes, hence the name.” The image is provided with the assistance of the Longjing District Office.
