Longmu Well Introduction
In the early period of Qing rule, when Changhua was established, the well water here was sweet, while the water in Changhua City was salty. This well almost determined the location of the city; however, the locals in Changhua were unwilling to accept this and secretly poured a lot of salt into the well to obstruct it. As a result, the county seat was eventually decided to be built in present-day Changhua. Longmu Well, which has now been renovated with cement, is no longer what it used to be. According to the Changhua County Gazetteer, "Longmu Well is located seventeen miles north of the city. Its spring gushes several feet high, resembling a spray of jade flowers. The fields below the mountain, covering several acres, are all irrigated by this spring, which is blue in color and sweet in taste, and locals often come to fetch water. There are two stones nearby that look like dragon eyes, hence its name." Image provided with the assistance of Longjing District Office.
