Duiyue Gate Introduction
Duiyue Gate, commonly known as the Laogu Stone City Gate, was built in 1836 and is located on Xinyi Street. It is the only city gate in Tainan that is still in use today. Xinyi Street was formerly called Laogu Stone Street. It is unimaginable that once, after passing through this gate, there were only waterways, with ships carrying Laogu stones as ballast coming and going in this area. However, with the passage of time and the changes in geography, the significance of this city gate has changed dramatically. Of the 14 city gates that once existed in Tainan, this is the only one still in use.
