Kaidin Temple Introduction
Kaidan Lingyu Temple was established in 1665 and is dedicated to Xuantian Shangdi (the Supreme Emperor of the Dark Heaven). Inside the temple, there is a unique golden-faced statue of Xuantian Shangdi, making it the only one of its kind in Taiwan. Due to its early construction, it is referred to as the "Kaidan" temple; however, it is also known as the "Small Emperor Temple" because its scale is smaller compared to the Beiji Temple on Minquan Road. With a long history, the temple has undergone several renovations and was damaged during World War II. The current orientation of the temple was altered during the Japanese occupation period, and traces of this change are still preserved and displayed on-site today.
